I posted a while ago about pitbull rescue. I am doggie dumping ground of my neighborhood. I've taken in three pit's in the last two years. One was found during a snowstorm, one was a friend's who moved away, and one was an unwanted pup. I have 5 dogs in my 5 room apartment right now. I have a 13 month old and a baby due in July. I had needed to find a home for some of the dogs and someone here had offered to take two of them into their home. Unfortunately that fell through and at this point I'm stuck. I need to find homes for these babies. I have to leave my apt. and I can't take them with me. I've spoken to people at the rescue's and I hate their response. They think that it is more humane to put the dogs down then to put them in a shelter. I can't bring myself to do either. I love them to death and I wish I could provide a home to all the lost ones out there. I know if they go to a shelter that they won't find homes for them and I can't bear the thought of them being put down. Can someone PLEASE help me. Any ideas or thoughts would be more than welcome. You guys are always a wealth of info. We're living on borrowed time here. Thanks for any info or help
ay yi yi. i wish i knew how to help you. i'm sorry the rescue orgs have responded in such a way. the only thing i can think is to get online and talk to some pit people. this is in San Francisco, but it's a great website, and maybe they could hook you up:
Thanks for the info. I've been on the PBRC website and it would be great, only I have weeks, not months to find them homes. I've been waiting since Nov. for the person who said they would take the dogs. She said right after the holidays, unfortunately now I can't get in contact with her and things are not looking good. The time I would have had to find them homes is gone.
You are such a sweetheart for helping. Thank you. Everytime I hear of this kind of problem. It stresses me out so much. All these wonderful pets who need our help. I hope you two can connect. I wish you the best.
hey, maybe you could contact an out of state rescue. Maybe if you told them that you have a home for them, but you don't have a way to get them there, they would be willing to help you out with the transportation. And, it doesn't nesscarily have to be a pit rescue, but that it might be best. either way, good luck!
added: here's a site with someone looking for pit rescues and someone else posted a list of them...hope it helps. :)
Shadow is a black male with a white chest and white paws. He's absolutely gorgeous and the biggest baby in the world. He's super friendly and great with anyone. He lives in a five dog house. Every once in awhile we have spats over food or rawhide. DOn't touch his or anyone elses rawhide. They're ALL his. :). Jazmin is honey colored with a white chest and a white blaze. She's also a sweetie and good with the rest of the dogs. I have pictures, but not here with me, I could send them later if you like.
