I am currently looking at buying a french bulldog from two different breeders in Russia. Has anyone had any experience importing a frenchie from Russia. How hard is it to get the AKC registration? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
If it were me, I would stick with a breeder or rescue that I could visit in person. I am not saying the breeders overseas that you are looking at are bad, but they are certainly difficult for you to check out, and laws get fuzzy when you purchase anything overseas. If you are interested, this site may give you a starting point to look for breeders who you can visit in person. http://www.frenchbulldogclub.org/ And if you are open to rescue, here is a site in the U.S. where you can rescue a French Bulldog. http://www.frenchbulldogrescue.org/id39.htm

Have you checked quarantine regulations? I haven't in a long time. Did someone who speaks the mother tongue negotiate this deal? If not I would be skeptical. I got a dog years ago from The Netherlands everything worked out fine, but that was my experience. Hope everything works out. As the previous post touched upon there are undoubtedly fine Frenchies here.
Hi, I have a frenchie that I bought from russia. He is the sweetest, best dog, that i have ever owned. The thing you need to remember is that you are going to have to just grill them with questions, get refrences. The breeder that I got my frenchie from shows her dogs. She also has sold a lot of her frenchies to people in the states. I got my AKC reg in the mail in a little over a month. Which breeders are you looking into. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask me! I love to talk about my frenchie!
Something I forgot to add. They usually don't send actual AKC reg. They send FCI or RKF (i think it is RKF) reg, which is transferable to AKC. Then you are in charge of filling out the proper paper work to make them AKC.
I think that in a lot of their pictures the dogs don't look very well taken care of. They sell them for insanely low prices (which you need to be careful of because that is a sign you are being scammed). Plus a lot of dogs that i have seen that they sell don't look very true to breed standard. If you would like any information about frenchies in general, or would like me to give you the web address of the person i got my frenchie from you can email me at email@example.com. or if you have yahoo or MSN messenger you can talk to me there MSNfirstname.lastname@example.org Yahoo-XjessicaXburgiX

Okay, something that you will need to keep in mind then if you plan on showing is that the breed standard in russia is slightly larger than in the US. They breed them larger, therefor they don't have to do A.I or C-sections as often. But if you want to show then you will need to keep in mind that she could turn out slightly larger than you might anticipate. My frenchie is a little too leggy to be shown in the US, and he is VERY bully looking. I prefer the more bully look better, but some may not.
They look like pretty dogs....i think most of the ones she is selling look good breed quality also. But I would ask her why she has so many adults. The breeder that I got my frenchie from hardly ever has older dogs. just puppies for sale.
