My Yorkie Bernie has very bad gas all the time. Sometimes I feel like throwing up. We rescued him from a shelter and dont know how old he is probably between 10 and 12. He only has 11 teeth and so I feed him canned food. Do you think that is the problem or is it his age. Also his poop is always runny. Sorry this is gross :)
Neutro has a canned that is for sensitive stomaches, maybe try that. Or switch to a good kibble and add water so it softens before he eats it. Also add a couple teaspoons of pumpkin to his food. Maybe that will help with the runny stool.
Sorry, canned pumpkin. You get it at the grocery. Be sure it says pure pumpkin and not pie filling. Its supposed to be excellent for firming up stool. Just a couple of teaspoons should be enough for a yorkie.
It's probably the food. Treats and food can really really contribute to stinky gas (much like they do in humans, I suppose). For the runny poop, you should get that firmed up if you can. Have you tried adding a half a tablespoon or so of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) to his food? That can help. Also, what kind of food are you feeding? As I recall, he doesn't have a lot of teeth so I know your options are kind of limited on foods he can eat..
I have a pitt bull and OMG he has horrible gas. I have never smelled anything like that. He will run you out of a room so fast. He does when he is a sleep and when he is walking and I think just because he is breathing. I feed him Dog Chow, because the vet said it was one of the best brands of dog food for a large breed dog. PLEASE HELP US. Is there anything I can give him to help with this problem. I don't know how much more my husband can or will take. The dog has made him vomit before. If any one has had this problem and been able to fix it please let me know the secret.
Dog Chow is hands down ne if the WORST things you can feed, and is very very likely causeing the problem. Find some Taste Of The Wild, its a high end grain free food, its one of the only kibbles my big guy doesnt have horrible gas on!
