you hear of cats smothering kids but not so often dogs.
Of course it had to be a pitbull :( I cant imagine that the dogs breed had any effect on what happened but it is just more bad press for the breed. It is kind of stupid to have the dog put down over this, I could understand not wanting to live with an animal that killed you child but there is no reason to end her life. People really need to supervise interactions between animals and babies, it is a real shame :(
that's what I was thinking too. Why was an infant that age left somewhere that any animal could be laying up close to it? The mother left the infant in an unsecure place. She should have herself put down. It's not the dogs fault.
The old wives tale is that a cat will "steal a baby's breath". Not true, of course. What happens is, a cat will smell the milk on a baby's breath, and will get right up in the baby's face. I agree the dog should not be put down. If anything, the dog may actually have been trying to protect the baby, since it was left alone. The parents should be charged.
That story sounds a little fishy to me.. I cant believe that a mother would leave their infant unattended like that where a pet could get to the child. I agree it is not the dogs fault.. I have always had dogs in my house and when I had my little boy I took extra precautions to make sure the baby was always where the dogs couldnt get him while he was asleep and such- he was always in my site or my husbands.. That is a crying shame...Shame on those parents. :-(
that's why I was wondering about the bleeding part. that didn't sound right but I'm not familiar with what happens to dying bodies. so, do you guys think they'll find out the baby was murdered by the mother or something like that?
They said they had the dog put to sleep. Im wondering was the dog just trying to snuggle with the baby. I understand its got to be very hard to have that happen, but if the dog never tried to hurt the baby i dont see why it should be put to sleep.
