Yesterday i took my 10 week old puppy for her 2nd round of shots. She is a maltese. Last night she wasnt playful at all, but would still get up and walk around but today she is just laying around all day. She doesnt even attempt to follow you out the room, just puts her head up if u walk in and then outs it right back down. She'll get up to go to the bathroom and has eaten once today. I will give her some nutri cal tonight. I heard that toy breeds can take shots hard, and she may act like this for a couple of days? Does anyone know more about toy breeds and can help me out with this problem. I would really appreciate it. Im extremly worried. Thank You.
Hi, our Pom, Emma had a terrible reaction to her shots. She stopped breathing and just went limp. Thank God we had only gone a block on the way home, we rushed her back and they revived her with EPI. The breeder had told me about the Lepto reaction, this shot did not have the lepto in it, so these reactions can occur with any vacines.
Her larger brother, Teddy, had swelling on his face, but no troubles breathing.
yes im pretty sure that she got those 5 vaccinations in one. I dont know much about them though? Shes playing a little bit now, but she keeps going pee all over the house and her stool is a little runny. If i try to pick her up she screams as though shes in pain. Im so worried that she might be sick. Does anyone know how puppies act if they have a temperature?
She was probably wormed when she got her shots, this could cause her stool to be runny, but if she screams when youpick her up, I really think you should call the vet or an ER clinic if the vet doesn't have Saturday hours. I'm sorry your little baby isn't feeling well.

When I had my Chihuahua vaccinated, she acted much the same way. But she was only like that for about 24 hours. She yelped when I picked her up as well, but the vet said that it was because the place that she got the shot was sensitive and bruised and her being sore made her sensitive to being picked up. That could maybe be the reason for the yelping? I would watch her for the rest of the day, and if she doesn't come out of it, I would bring her back in. Make sure she is getting water and food down. Even if she is not interested, maybe try cottage cheese or yogart so that she is at least getting something. This will keep her blood sugar level up as well. Good luck!
I have Chihuahuas and it's normal for the little ones to be sleepy for the first 24 to 48 hours after shots. My Bella usually runs a low fever and cries when I pick her up or move her. The first time this happened I rushed her back to the vet the next day. The Vet said to give her 1/4 tablet of baby aspirin every 12 hours for the first and second day. After that she was back to her old self. Bella is extremely allergic to Lepto. Her face swelles up and She can't breath. Some Vets give that shot with a dose of Benadryl. My Vet won't give it to her because she had such a bad reaction.
