I had been hearing about a new pet store in the area, everything bad. Last evening I went to check it out. You can't beleave the awful conditions I found. The pups, most mixed breeds were all sick. Their gums were white, dehydrated, fur falling out, no water or food in the cages. I asked what she was feeding them, she said that cheep stuff $1. for a 3 lb. bag, that they liked it the best. I asked about shot, Ans. Some have them, I'm going to give the others when I get them. No records are kept. Asked about guarantee Ans. I can write something up for you if you take it to the vet first. I told her one of the pup was so sick it couldn't even stand up and needed to see a vet right away, Ans. Oh what is wrong with it, It runs and plays with the other dogs when we take them out back. Well I reported this place to animal control as soon as I left the store. Sure hope they do something about her before the poor babies die. This is only part of what I found....24 kittens in one small cage, Rabbits, chickens. and guenia pigs all in a tank together. I will go back there in a few days and hope to find it closed down.
Thanks Boomer! The store owner should be sitting in a wire cage barefoot, with no food or water! Ughhhhhhh! Do you have an SPCA in your area? Dept. of Agriculture? Please also contact them immediately! Please keep us posted! Welcome by the way! :)
Boomer now where is this one? I thought it was against the law or something to have live dogs in a pet store. Many stopped years ago, but it sure seems to be surging again. Let us know what happens with this.
What a sad story but good for you for getting involved and going down there after you heard the stories and checking things out for yourself. More people should get involved when they hear such stories, the world would be a better place.
It was the dept of Agriculture I called. I went back to the store yesterday, The conditions were the same. The investagater found she had no licence, Would you beleave all they did was give her the forms to fill out and help her get one? We don't have an aspc in our area. What else can I do? There must be someone to help these poor babies.
Ughhhh! It can seem so frustrating at times! Do you have animal control that you could call? If there is no food or water they have to do something! Unfortunatley it is not against the law (I wish it was) to sell dogs or cats in a Pet Store. A lot have learned the hard way that selling them only caused trouble. What city & State is this happening in?
This so called "PET" store is in St. Roberts, Mo. Just outside the front gate of Fort Leonard Wood. I can understand why so many puppy mills can operate in this state. Its a darn shame there is no one to stand up for these poor animals.
Not Missouri! Ughhhhhhh! Puppymill Capital of the USA! No wonder you're getting the run around! I just sent a buddy of mine an e-mail that lives in MO. to see if she has any suggestions! I'll let you know as soon as I hear!
