Everybody has to focus on the wrong they do.When other breeds mess up nobody makes such a big deal about it.But when the pits mess up everybody has to say soemthing. If the dog isnt raised right then they wont be good dogs.I trust my boyfriends pits with my son and so do many other people.Dont blame the breed because of human mess ups.
Just as long as you recognize that no dog comes to you a blank slate. Genes play a powerful role. All purebred dogs generally WILL exhibit behaviors for which they were originally bred, in varying degrees. This is obviously combined with the animal's strength and other physical attributes, and only a fool would pretend that it doesn't make a difference. Things that are mildly annoying in a toy breed can be downright dangerous in a more powerful dog. The margin for error is much narrower.
As with any breed, pitbulls are ideal for some people, and individual dogs may be exceptional. However, I would still have to argue that the MAJORITY of households are not well suited for the MAJORITY of pitbulls or staffies or other fighting breeds. All of us here know that there are an awful lot of negligent and ignorant pet owners out there.
pope1982: Thanks for sharing the website about the Pit Bulls. It is very well done and I've marked it in my favorites, so I can go back to it again, when I have more time.
We have a Pit Bull / Shar Pei mix dog named Kesha and she is the most wonderful soul. She is kind and loving. She was not taught to be aggressive, she was never abused nor tormented. She's shown nothing but love, respect and concern for us.
WOW, I really liked that video. How can people say pit bulls say they are all mean. The video explains it all. I have several myself and that video touched me. Yes, i feel sorry for the little girl and beleive it or not i am scared of dogs myself. It all depends on how they are raised just like all other dogs. As far as bitting i think all dogs will bit its just a matter of when and where and depends on the situtation. Well, anyways pit bulls are great with kids and so lovable with them and for sure protects them from strangers.
That was a truly touching video...It's true, most pitbulls will not be agressive unless they are mistreated and taught to be that way.
My cousin had a male pitbull that was so gentle with everybody, even his nephew who was 5 at the time, but as soon as anybody would try and mess with my cousin, even rough play, the dog would jump in between and do his job to protect his master as he was taught. As soon as the situation was under control, he would return to his bed and go to sleep.
Personally, I would never own a pitbull myself, even though any breed of dog can be capable of an attack on a human. I work at a boarding kennel and the owner does not accept Pitbulls to be boarded because who knows what could be in their background (fighting, being mistreated, agression...etc...)
To me a picture proves nothing. You can show an unstable dog, a dangeous unpredictable one with a child with no problems in a picture. I can tell you from experience that this is true. Its a great picture and definatly cute. Pics can say a lot, I don't think that dog ways near 100lbs let alone 100+, she really don't look that big. In one pic it looks like her tits are haning down and sagging like she had pups, maybe not but byb just adds to the problem. Of course Pit Bulls are good with kids, wonderful with them, you'll find that most people on here like them and are excepting, only the occasional troll tries to start something negative about Pit Bulls. Raising a dog right isn't everything, have a well bred stable dog is important, a well raised dog can still become aggressive.
That's what i thought, the spring pull make there jaw stronger, I train in a protection sprt called schutzhund, not many people use the spring pull (it has a past in dog fighting) for protection work. the mother of my new pup oves it she swings like a monkey from it. great exercise for the dog, i was interested in setting one up do you know where he got it?
