As my mom, brother and sister and I were driving somewhere yesterday, we saw an over turned box, the seemed to be moving. So, I convinced my mom to pull over, and I lifted up the box and saw the most horrid sight ever. In the box were two dogs, both covered in feces and reeking of urine. their hair matted and tangled, and ribs protruding out. They were so skinny, it scared me to death. And only one dog was alive, the other seemed to be sleeping at first, but it was not breathing. And so, I called my mom outside, and let me tell you, she hates animals, but she started crying after seeing this. Pulled over on the highway, we called a friend to look up the sherrifs number. He soon arrived, and said that there was no way anything could be found out about the person who abandoned these puppies. And that we could either keep the alive one, or give them to the shelter, where they most likely would have been put down. So, after convincing my mom, that this puppy would be good friends with our maltese, Tusky, and that I would take full care and responsibility of her, we took her home. First thing first, I fed her. My mom boiled some chicken and liver, and I hand fed her it in tiny pieces, she had some teeth and was utterly famished. Next, I gave her a flea bath, and had to wear plastic gloves and take out the feces, and cut out some feces too, this part was so gross, as she was covered. Next after bathing her with warm water, flea shampoo, and my other dogs shampoo, I used a hair dryer on low heat to get her warm and dry. Then I put powder on her and brushed her. After all of that, she was so sleepy, that she just conked out on our rug. I must say, she looked pretty good, except she seemed to have fur stains, that made her look brownish. She is very timid, but is very friendly with my six year old brother and sister. Although, when I walk into the room, she crouches and starts to kinda of shiver, though if I lie down she will sit by me. When she woke up, she was energized a little, so I took some pictures, and we played with some squeaky toys, but she was scared to death of them, and peed instantly, but on accident, I think. She cleaned up really well, after I took all the crap out of her fur, also, I gave her a trim to take out some of the uncombable matts, her hair makes her look big, but when she was wet, she looked smaller than a gerbil, and was so skinny that I cried. I would love to kill the person who left her and her sibling out on the road to die. Oh and also, we decided to keep her, and have a vet appointment for everyone tomorrow. Here are some pictures of her, she is the tiny one. Can anyone guess her age, breed or any of that?
boy she sure did clean up nice !!!!!!! she is absolutely adorable !!!!! that is the most wonderful thing you did saving her like that. it is very sad that the other dog was not so fortunate. she looks like a baby but maybe it is just her size. she looks like a maltese or a bicon or she could be one of the designer poo mixes also.
big hugs to you for being such a wonderful person to save her =)
Thank you for the kindness you have done. She is quite a cutie. If I were guessing, I'd say maybe a westie/poodle mix? Or Maltese/Poodle? I don't know but I'm so glad you found her. And your mom gets an "A" too for letting you keep her!
You guys, shes scared of me, I think, because when I walk close to her, she starts to cower, but she does it less the more I cuddle and pet her. Also, my other dog Tusky, is like in love with her, he follows her around, and she follows him too.
Once my dad found 4 dogs on the side of the road 2 were hit by cars and dead the other 2 were pups (germansheperd) they were huddled real close to thee mama (dead) and were crying my dad brought them home and had to feed them (i dont rember what he used i was very young but they were still on mamas milk) after they got older we found a good home for both of them.
Another time when i was camping with my dad we went out on a boat (blue lake in cali if you live there and like to camp you should go its great) when this wood crate thing floated by we picked it up adn there were 4 baby kittens in there i wanted to keep them all but dad wouldnt let me. By the end of the week each kitten had a new home with somoene that was camping there.
I think its great that you saved the dog more peopel should take more time to save animals. When ever we are driving i make my husband pull over (as long as its safe) when ever i see a box or a bag so i can make sure theres no alive animals in there. people are so mean i hear people talking all the time about how there cat had babys so after they were born they put them in a bag and droped them in the creek. People are mean and need to be shot.
Thanks Shiny. I couldn't get to the pics ewither. When I clicked on all the ;omls, it brought be back to the main discussion for some reason.
Neha, that little puppy is so lucky that you came along. She sure is a little cutie. Good luck with her.
I just don't understand how people can dump an animal. It just makes me so angry and upset. That poor little thing didn't ask to be brought into this world and did nothing wrong. If the owner of the mother had gotten his dog spayed in the first place, this wouldn't have had to happen.
That was so awesome of you to keep the dog. You must have a wonderful family :) Great eyes too, thank goodness you seen that box moving.
If I could I'd give ya a pat on the back, or a hug. :)~ So go ahead pat yourself on the back then give yourself a big hug ooooo and give the puppy a hug for me. Poor little sweet thing, has a good family to take care of it now.
Well, my brother and sister instantly fell in love with her, so when my mom said no, I had them beg, I mean, who can resist two six year olds holding a starved, but adorable, dog and pleading. Lol, all the pleading cost me some allowance though, but its totally worth it, since we bought Kismath many new toys, a crate, and we're going for her shots and checkup tomorrrow. We still don't know her age though, but I'm guessing 3-4 months. Her breed is most likely mixed though, it could be anything.
Thank you. Actually, we were basically driving pretty slow, lots of traffic. And we just instantly fell in love with Kismath. As for the box, we were glad there weren't babies in them, I mean, I've heard stories about babies dumped in trashcans, even though this is just as horrid.
