I'm getting a puppy tomorrow, and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!
What else do I need (besides vaccinations)?
A crate A few toys Food (Purina Puppy Chow, was told from my friend Stacey who's dog HAD the puppies, so thats what they have been eating) Water and Food bowls Halloween Costume (OK, so you don't need it...but who can resisit buying a cute little witch hat?) Leash Collar I'm pretty sure thats all I have, besides love.
Sounds like you're prepared! A couple extras could be a brush, some training treats and a bottle of spray for when there are accidents! You'll want a cleaner that can neutralize the odor from accidents so your puppy won't want to go there again.
Thanks! She's a mutt, basically...her daddy is a Lhasapoo and her mommy is a Chihuahua...for fun, we say she's a Lhasapoohuahua :) Both her parents belong to my best friend, and its nice being able to visit the puppies a few times a week...see them grow...
yeah...i've really got to get treats...when we were at the petstore today we totally forgot them, and since they're helpful in training, i'm hoping to get them tomorrow morning. early, since we're picking up Gingersnap around 11. we already have spray stuff from stains for cats...although we don't have cats...(to make a long story short, when we moved into our new house there was stinky wet cat stains all over the rugs). and with brushes, i need to get one of those too, but what are the advantages of having a dog-brush over just using a people-brush that we use exclusively for the dog? because people-brushes are cheaper...
Oh, she is absolutely adorable. I had a Ginger once. I called her everything from Gingernap to Gingerale, and when I got mad at her, I would call her Ginger-Vitus (kind of like if you don't take care of your teth and get Gingivitis) ... LOL. Congratulations and good luck with her.
you need pee pee pads Also I have been using this spray in a purple bottle I think its Fantastic, It is called Oxy Power or something hope you can find it as I just ran out and threw the bottle away or I'd be able to give the exact name works good and is for carpets as well good luck have fun!
Hmm, I'm not sure about 'people' brushes... they are definitely cheaper, but they might be rough on your dog's skin? I'm really not sure at all though.
A good brush really depends on what kind of fur your dog has. I've got a mini schnauzer who needs to be brushed EVERY day or else she gets mats! I use a comb with rotating teeth - it gets out the tangles with minimal ouchiness... hehe
ooh yeah, puppy shampoo, forgot to say i already got it :D
what is a rotating brush? i'm confused...but i think i'm going to have to get a dog brush, because she's going to need tons of grooming.
i need advice. right now, at my friend stacey's house, they stay in their crate most of the day except for a few hours a day when they play in the pen stacey's dad built them. in the pen they can eat, run around, and pee on the newspaper. so they're being paper trained right now...but we want to crate-train her. how?
haha yeah i'm up for a rough night. in her old house, she spent alot of time napping in her crate, with old pillow cases and blankets. do you think if i borrow one of those pillowcases and put it in her crate, she'll feel better? be like, comforted by a farmiliar scent?
