The collar that the vet put on my puppy after she was spayed was much bigger. She's a Corgi and the collar went out past her nose. We had to hold her food/water bowls up to her, or else she couldn't reach it. But yeah, I know the feeling. My puppy was pouting and not moving for a few days. The day that we brought her back, she refused to look at us, and kept sticking her fluffy butt at us, almost as if she were saying "You guys suck, look what you did to me!" Just hang in there. Keep the collar on for a week or two weeks (depending on what the vet told you). The time'll pass soon enough!
We are going to get a bigger one tonight. This one is too small. While it fits his neck, he can still get to teh woudn if he licks hard enough! Hubby's fault OF COURSE ;) We are keeping it on him so he at least gets used to the idea of it.
He's so darn adorable I can hardly stand it! I'm taking my pup in tomorrow to be spayed so it'll be a nervous day for me : (( I have the same mix pup breed as you do and they look so similar, almost like they're related. I've never heard of the onesie. Where did you get yours?
lol I hope I'm not misunderstanding your statement- a onesie is what babies (human babies) wear under their clothes, sometimes alone. They are thin cotton and snap at the babies crotch. We bought ours at target in the infant section. His are 0-3months old. We just cut a hole for his tail :) Eskie let me know of this great idea! Sebastian still was licking, just not as much but he still managed to pull the top layer of stiches out--which is why we got the e collar. Just really watch it because we would have never noticed (no whining, or blood) that he pulled the first layer if we hadn't been keeping an eye on the area.

Pixel, Oooooh I get it. What a great Onesie idea! I'll see how Roxy acts with her incision before I go and purchase one tho. Did Sebastian experience much pain after his surgery? Check out Roxy's Dogster page: www.dogster.com/?169352

girlzpuppy--Are you kidding? The nurse was trying to tell me how groggy and lazy he would be and he came tearing out of the room, yanking his leash out of the other nurses hand when he heard my voice. We've been trying to keep him calm because hes just as energetic as always! It might be the pain medicine they gave him. We bought him from a woman out here (east coast)
keesha--Yup, his dad was a 3.5 yorkie and his mom was a 7lb maltese. When he got weighed on Friday he was 8.9 lbs and the vet said he's in great shape and not overweight.
It just goes to show that just because mom and dad are a certain size it doesn't mean their moms and dads were and you could end up with a monster like bash :) But of course I love my little metrosexual pup!
I'm at work and hoping the ecollar worked so i dont come home a sore baby :)
The e-collars my crew had to wear after spay/neuter were MUCH larger, extending several inches past the end of their noses. Mine hated them too, Arwen in particular. My vet said 5 days, which was 5 days too many in their opinions!
My little girl was spaded just last week , she the e collar on it looked so funny it was huge she has such a cute face. i felt sorry for her took it off as soon as we got home, she did not bite at all. the funny thing is the docter told me she did not have the dissovable stitches but she did when i took hwer in to have em takn out. sometimes drs and assts do not work together.
