To make it softer, I always put a blanket and sheet in my dog beds. I always buy the wicker beds and they come with the little sheep skin covered pillows. So, really all I have to take out and wash is the sheet and blanket. Makes it alot easier than the other kind of beds, I think.
My wash machine has a hand wash cycle. But my hubbie takes our cushions off the front porch that Duchess has claimed and sprays them with the pressure washer. I just hang them over the porch rail to dry. I tryed to cover them with king size bed sheets but shes a rough sleeper and has them all messed up too!LOL!
I cant have them all, but I do have on average 7-8 with me at any given time, lol. Some of them just do not make good sleeping partners, so they have their own place to sleep.....thank god we have small ones!
IMO little dogs are much easier to accomodate than bigger dogs. I just get them baby basinets (spell?) and throw in some inexpensive pillows (I buy them from the 99cent stores) and when they are dirty, I just throw them away and buy new ones. Oh, I just hose wash the basinets once a week and we're done.
Now for Spottie (Dalmatian mix) I am having a hard time finding him beths/cushions to sleep in. I like to buy inexpensive stuff because I don't like to wash those items, I toss out after they are dirty.

Sometimes it says hand wash because the demensions of it make it difficult to put in a machine. I wash Dex's in the machine and babysit it through the spin cycle as it makes the machine "off balance". But, eventually it gets done and then into the dryer on Delicate. No problems so far.
