and i see every one is always asking for help to pick a akc name? im assuming this isnt the call name you will be calling your dog? why do you need a akc name? so many differnt names? guess i dont understand why you have to have a akc name and a call name? do you have to do this? So the breeder im getting my little girl from has a kennel name and then i go off that? I already have a name for her, ( she isnt even born yet lol) but im just wondering what this akc naming is all about? any help any one know the importance to this
b ecause there can only be a certain number of dogs registered with the akc with the same name. Think of how many dogs named 'Jack' there are. Or 'Precious'. You see? An akc name ideally will give your dog a unique name.
ok now i understand.. i just didnt understand why i would read about ppl needing to pick a akc name for their pets. and most time they are werid and way differnt names. so this is a must when you register them as akc?
The name doesnt' have to be 'weird and different'. Having an unusual name to me was important. I dont want there to be two dogs out there with my dog's name. Riddick's call name is Fullmoon's Pitch Black.
Fullmoon was the kennel name.. Pitch Black from the movie Pitch black, which stared Vin Diesel. HIs character was named Riddick.. thus, we have RIddick, AKA Fullmoon's Pitch Black. For me it's part of the fun.
Your dogs call name is simply what you call your dog...
My boy Haunter, to me is "just" Haunter
My other choices, going along with his name Haunter, were
Vom Wildweg's Alone in the Dark Vom Wildweg's Bump in the Night Vom Wildweg's Haunted Graveyard Vom Wildweg's Dark Stormy Night Vom Wildweg's Cave Canem (latin for Beware of dogs)
Not following with his name they were
Vom Wildweg's Causin' Controversy Vom Wildweg's Here Comes Trouble Vom Wildweg's Broken Road Vom Wildweg's Best Kept Secret Vom Wildweg's Worth the Wait Vom Wildweg's A Littlebit Risque Vom Wildweg's Bvd of Broken Dreams Vom Wildweg's Broken Promise Vom Wildweg's Voice of Reason
BUt if you aren't going to show your Yorkie you can simply call him, for example if his name is going to Max, and his Kennel is ... Springton Kennels, you would call him Springton's Max... or you could make his name Springtons (blah blah blah)
Yes, and if you happen to name your dog a name that the AKC already has in use, they will stick a I or II after the name. I knew a person who only named their dog Helen. The AKC papers said Helen XI. That meant there were eleven dogs of that breed with the name Helen. FYI CeCe
