I also wanted to say, if your lid pops open after the carrier has shut it, we are "Not allowed to BACK UP at all, for any reason." And if we dismount (Ha!), get out of our car, we have to turn off the car, take the keys, have all the windows up and lock the doors and then walk around our vehicle and look and make sure no children or anything has gotten anywhere around our vehicle before we start off again--even if we are just walking a couple of feet away. All that makes you not want to bother turning off the car and getting out, in case a box is blocked. I was rear ended on my route, by a teenager who wasn't paying attention, and knocked into the car in front of me. Even tho it was not my fault, I still had to go before a "review board" of postal management every 6 months--just because I had an accident. I got so tired of them asking me questions at those reviews and saying, "Now what could you have done to have avoided this accident? I finally said, "Stayed at home that day!" I don't think they cared for it! Well, I'm getting off the subject, so I'll log off cause I'm starting to get flashbacks of Postal Hell.
Well, I'm glad I'm not a freak for complaining. I also complained that despite the 3+ cars sitting outside my house at any given time and a view of me sitting at my desk from the mailbox, he will not deliver anything that needs to be signed for. The 20 steps to the door is too much for him, so I end up having to drive 45 minutes to pick it up at the office, and they can't ever find my package. This happened three times in one week, so I lost it. My mailbox does not open after you close it, it's just a little rusty, so it doesn't move as smoothly as a brand new one would, but it's not hard to close, a two-year-old could handle it.
