I can't even bring my own dogs into MY own front yard anymore...Here's the story:
I just had Laredo out, on a leash, and Dakota with just a collar on and the neighbor's sickly puppy ran up. I told all the little kids over there to get it out of the yard. Like 7 little kids ran in the yard asking if Laredo was going to bite the little puppy and kill it. I told them it wasn't, and to get the dog out of the yard.
Then, the little kids from across the street walked up with a little Beagle looking pup, with a flea collar on. They were asking if we knew whose dog it was. I took it from them and said I was going to make found dog signs. The little kid from next door ran home crying and his sister or aunt, something came out.
I told them all that the little puppy was someones friend and they were missing it, just like they miss their old dogs. ( which I know they don't.. ) I told their older sister I was making found dog signs and she said "This is my um,..sisters dog". A complete lie! Since when have they taken care of their dogs enough to put a flea collar on!?!?!
I asked her if she was sure it was her sister's and she said she was. I offered to make signs again, but she got mad.
This isn't the first time we've had a problem with these "people". Their first 2 dogs ( 1 adult, 1 puppy ) were really sick, didn't have any shots, and weren't taken care of. Those dogs were the ones that got Laredo deathly ill with CoronaVirus. They were always running up and down the street, including the 5 week old puppy. We even witnessed the little puppy almost get hit by a car 3 or 4 times. THANKFULLY someone stole both of them.
The mom of the kids next door said she knew who stole the dogs, yet she didn't even try to get them back. Instead, they just got a new puppy for their kids. The new puppy runs up and down the street, has no collar, no shots, nothing.
I'm tired of the people out here not taking care of their animals. It's about time to call animal control on about 3 people out here.
Sorry for such a long post, I just needed to vent. I can't believe some people. What should I do? Ugh!
It's so sad when people have no regard for their animals. It makes me mad and sad (for the animals) at the same time. Basically, this is why people tend to annoy me. TO let a FIVE week old puppy that should not even be away from his mother yer run up and down the street...What kind of sick person does that! That poor puppy. Its future doesnt look too bright in their home. I feel so sorry for you that you have to live Next to them. I say build a brick wall around your entire house, (LOL) so you can't see them and their sick dogs cannot come and infect your property! Too bad that would be a very large undertaking! There is a way where certain people can be prohibited from having any animals. I just don't know how to go about doing that. I saw it on Animam Cops on Animal Planet, where they took a Guy's rights away from having ANY pets. I don't think its something you could personally do though :( BUT getting higher forces involved probably could... For now, I would just try and keep my distance from those wack jobs! *HOPEFULLY* they will move away, far, far away! That would be perfect. I'd feel bad for the new owners of the house though, since it is probably a mess looking at the way they take care of "their" dogs.

And get this, I was outside in the front yard messing with flowers and the first little puppy ( the 5 week old that was stolen ) came running up.
As usual, I asked them to come get it. They did, and I asked where they go it, and how old it was. They told me that one of their dogs got pregnant and had 3 pups. They were all given away, except one, at 5 weeks old.
I asked where the other 2 went and they told me that one of them was given away and THEY LOST THE OTHER ONE IN THE HOUSE!! The poor little puppy died some where INSIDE their house! They still haven't found it either!
This USED to be a nice neighborhood until they moved in. Not to sound cruel, but their dogs are all better off dead.
It makes me cry thinking about the poor little puppy that starved to death inside their house. The little kids are already starting to beat the new puppy. The 2, 4, and 7 year old literally beat the dog.
Oh my gosh, this makes me sick. I thought my neighbors were bad? How on earth do you loose a 5wk. old puppy in a house? Those kids probably killed the little thing. I have said this a jillion times but I will never understand how someone can be so cruel to animals. I guess you have to have feelings for one thing and compassion. Shoot, I even brake for squirrels. I just can't stand to see something mistreated, I don't care what it is. Wouldn't be great if all these types of neigbhors could just live on their own little island somewhere and make each other miserable instead of moving in and ruining a neighborhood.
Oh god that sounds awful. Makes me want to cry too. You're doing the right thing though. I'd try contacting animal control, but I do understand why you are fearful about it. I'd re-consider though, and just give them an anonymous tip. Up to you though.
If you think its true that they lost a puppy in thier house and it died, then why wouldnt you call animal controll? Voice your concerns and tell them you want to remain anonymous because you fear they might murder you. because there are probally laws about roaming animals in your area and I doubt they want to pay a hefty fine. Catch it on camera as proof and contact proper officials. I couldnt sleep comfortable knowing thers puppy abuse going on across the street.
I really am scared of those people. I could take the girls over there easily, but the men are huge!
I don't think they'd murder me over one of their dogs, but I do know they wouldn't think twice about teaching me a "lesson".
I've told them before that it's illegal to have a dog without a rabies shot, and there are leash laws. They were good about keeping the dogs in their yard for a bit, but they don't care anymore.
It's so sad, actually pathetic. They would know it was me if animal control came out though, especially now! I just don't want anything happening to my dogs or birds.
Everyone ( everyone = family members ) keeps telling me to stay out of their business before I get hurt, but I feel like it is my business. Their abused puppy in my yard, and us hearing them hit it is my business.
I understand that people are concerned about the dogs, but, .... um.... WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS? They don't have much control in this situation, and it sounds like they home environment is atrocious.
It a dog acts out, people on this board are more than likely to pity the dog, and say that it must be because of an irresponsible owner. So we have a situation here where the kids are acting abusively to animals. Why is that? Were they just evil from birth? Or is it socialization and training? Think about it.
While you fret over a call to AC, you might also consider a call to DHS. Those kids need help NOW.
I admit that I'm out of my league on this one -- I don't know how these things are handled. I am *assuming* that child protective services is accustomed to working with nasty, vindictive people, and would know to be discreet. Maybe someone here on the board can speak to that.
I don't know what I'd do in your situation -- it's a tough call. I just get tired of seemingly *everyone* (my perception, I know) joining the chorus of "Oh, the poor puppy" when there are kids that are living in that same house. Maybe they are not dying, but there's probably some damage going on.
You are right. We should call. Not only family services, but animal control. Those children and the dogs need to get away from those people.
About 2 months ago the grandpa over there threw hot grease at his wife and then chased his pregnant granddaughter with a gun. He was arrested, but he's right back over there. So, the police know about him, and hopefully are watching him.
