About two weeks ago I was driving with my son when this little dog ran out in front of my car. I thankfully stopped in time and ran out to see him. He was so submissive and immediately rolled on his belly. I picked him up and all I felt was bones. He was soooo skinny!!! I began to walk to some of the nearby houses to see if he belonged to anyone and I eventually found his house. This lady answered the door and said that the dog was her mothers but she fell and broke her hip and now her son was taking care of him but was just never home a lot. I asked if anyone ever fed him. And she said yes he is just a skinny breed. He is a chihuahua and I have never seen any with their bones sticking out like his, mine certainly doesn't. I think she got nervous and asked if I would just take him. I already have two dogs, but how could I say no??? I figured my husband would kill me so I told him it would only be temporary until I could find him a better home. Well my husband took one look at him and fell in love!!! My kids and I did as well so he is now part of the family!!! I can't believe we have three dogs!! They all get along and he is doing great. He even gained a pound since I've had him!!!

I don't know how someone could just not take care of him. He was also terrified of my husband at first and would curl into a little ball and pee when he saw him. If my husband would reach to pet him he would flinch. this all led me to believe that he was probably yelled at and hit often. He spent all day alone (the lady told me her son was gone from 8 AM till 12 AM every day, and he was the only one that lived there) and then most likely got punished for going to the bathroom in the house. He is not quite potty trained even though he is over a year old!! He is doing much better though my other dogs seem to show him the way!!!
Good luck on your new addition.Thats how we got our shepard mix. It was Easter and we were taking our grandparents home. We saw a puppy that almost run under our car. I searched for the owners for days. 9 years later she is still with us.
We kept the name they had given him- the vet thought that would be best because he is over a year old. His name is Joey. This is sort of confusing because my brothers name is also Joey. He was over one night and my husband said "Joey, stop it!" (He was humping one of our other dogs) and my brother thought he was talking to him! But Joey seems to fit him!
What a sweet little face. He is cute now, but he will be darling after he is fatten up. Poor baby is so skinny. Its so hard for me to believe that people can ignore the care of an animal like that and yet we have neighbors that don't care if theirs have water in all this heat we have been having. I belive people like that will pay for the cruelty they dish out and they should. He will have a good home with you and maybe he will come out of alot later. Sounds like he has been abused.
