I am still in shock, and tears! After a falling out with my oldest sister five years ago I lost contact with my niece. They at the time lived in Kentucky and I in Florida. I wrote her letters for about 2 years and finally gave up after not receiving any back. I assumed my sister was tearing them up instead of giveing them to her. Of course I thought about her often, wondering if she were doing good in school, and just what her life was like. (btw she's 5 yrs younger than I am) Of course more family termoil drew us farther apart...long story short, her mom waited untill my grandmother died then went after my dad for back child support. She didn;t even bother to send flowers to her own grandmother's funeral, but boy did she want her money. Still I never gave up that the day would come that my niece would turn 18 and I would be able to talk to her again. From time to time I would do a name search on myspace, hopeing to find her. I did at one point find an old profile of hers that hadn't been logged onto in about a yr. I contacted Tom of myspace, hopeing he could give me the e-mail addy she used to make the myspace account. He did, but by that time the e-mail addy was no longer working. Something told me this afternoon to look for her again, but this time when I did I got a current myspace account! When I saw her picture I about lost it. I kept my composure the best I could in the e-mail I sent her. She just sent me an e-mail and I cried the whole time I read it! She never got a single letter I wrote, but was ecstatic to hear from me today. I finally have a missing part of my family back! I just had to share with someone, hope you guys don;t mind. :)
I actually talked to her on the phone tonight. She sounds great! I'm suprised at how much my sister and her family have changed. Lauren; my niece is really unhappy, she can't wait till her 18th birthday so she can get away from them. Really can't say I blame her. We'll have to wait on a reunion untill she's 18. Even though her mom, my sister has become a devote Christian, she still can't find it in her heart to forgive me. Oh well nothing lost there. I did find out that my sister hasn't changed much when it comes to silly "ventures". When I lived with them 5 yrs ago they had purchased a retired thouroghbred, and were all about breeding her and becoming race horse owners...yeah right. Well they ended up giving all the horses away, and now my sister breeds Bishons. Yep she's a byb. Considering they couldn't afford to by my neice a car, or anything else she has, I'm pretty sure she's not doing any genetic testing either. Lol I love myspace now, of all the ways to find a family member, I found her on myspace! I'm just glad she's not following in her genetic footsteps. Both her mom and I were really rebelous, both had our first child at 17. Lauren is a senior in HS, is going off to college and plans to have a future!
