I just found out there's gonna be a Petsmart opening about 20 minutes away from my house. The nearest one is about a 2.5 hour drive (when I go visit my dad I stop at it LOL... good excuse to go see him).
I would not recommend the vets there. They made my dog with an intestinal impaction wait 2 hours for treatment...even though I told them what the problem was... the vet FELT the mass.... I brought stool and vomit samples... and they wanted to run tests for HEARTWORM... before they even would start treating my dog. He died 5 minutes after they FINALLY started to treat him. He went from walking to dead in about 2 hours. IN the mean time... they saw other pets that were much less critical than mine.
Then Cinnamon was having trouble passing a puppy... they told me to bring her to the emergency vet... they were closing in 1 hour. Basically they did not want to deal with a possible c section.... or even assist her. When I did bring her to the emergency vet... the baby came right out... no C section... no assistance..... nothing.
Well.... I prefer Petco. I will go in there for some things.... but there is really nothing at Petsmart that Petco does not have.... and not much difference in price. And I even shy away from them some. I spend an OBSENE amount of money at a place called Pooch Me. IN the last month I spent about 500 there..... sigh. I am a slave to my babies.
As for socialization... look up local dog parks. It is a better place to go.

I do not trust that there sales clerks know anything. Once purchased some fish there. One was an angel fish and they told me it was not an aggressive fish so it would get along with the 5 other fish I purchased that day. The angel ate them all. I had no identifialble bodies to show so they would not give me my money back. I am glad ours closed.
Every time I goto Petco I never buy anything. There toys are always cheap looking and they never have anything new.
Though it could be because I've only been to the other one twice... but walked away with too much stuff. LMAO. At least I can stop buying from their online site and look at the product now before buying.
Thinking of maybe looking about getting a part-time job there on my days off... but I really havent decided yet...
Just a note in case everybody doesn't know... If you go online to petsmart.com and print off the item you want, take it in to the store, you get the online price. It is lower and I save a good chunk when I get my birdie treats. Happy shopping!
I wished we had a store that would open up nearby us. There is nothing less than 35 miles from us. It is not a bad drive, but would like one closer. We do have a pet store but it stinks and I hate to see the dogs in cages so I do not claim it. I would just like one to open up so we could have more choices of things to buy for our dogs. Something clean too.
PetcoPetsmart make me cranky. They are WAY overpriced, the stores are disgusting, whenever I go in the ones near me there is ALWAYS pee and other "marked" areas from dogs that aren't as well trained as mine.
Also I have been a fish hobbyist for a while... I have all aggressive Cichlids, JAck Dempseys, Firemouths, Convicts, and frontosas. Whenever I go in there to buy a fish they give me the third degree. I can understand them asking me the basics... but it makes me SO angry.
