Crazy as it might sound I have seen many vets prescribe depression medication for their pet patients. I thought it was funny but instead I have had great outcome with therapy (luckily I am a pharmacist and made a fish flavored anti-depressant for my cat). I'm like the one that doesn't believe it in humans I just think with todays society that people especially children just get labeled so they can be given drugs that will blow there mind so society an d family don't have to put up with the person. I do believe dogs can be more hyper and not always want to pay attention. each dog no matter what the breed is has there own unique personally and I believe that when people are labeled adhd and put on drugs for this that they drain that person or little person personally out of them. and your personality is what makes you who you are. oh the reason why I replied I just wanted to thank you for repying about my fleas. MY dog s ear had gotten infected and I took her to the vet I had a long talk with the vet about the flea medication and I got some k9 advantix and some flea stuff for the cat I believe most of our fleas ate gone.
Just as children are (suprise suprise) active, intersted in running around, often unintersted in spending extended periods of time in deep mental thought and can have the attention span of gants, so can dogs.
But like children it is often a resault of youth and lack of dicipline (not suprising in something that is young, eh?)
However, many dogs often 'diganosed' by the brilliant are simply breeds or dogs who have been bred for hyperactivity. Then... people are suprised that the dog is hyperactive...
Boggles my mnd really. However, many people forget that a lot of time and energy went into creating domesticated dogs and their personalities. There is a general assumption that if it is a dog it maks a good pet. That is an incorrect one IMO, considering some dogs are truely working animals created for tasks that require a lot of physical activity.
What we consider a good pet is often against the genetic makeup of some breeds. However, just as people can not reconicile with the fact that dogs are not humans, some often have a problem with the fact that their dog is geneticly moving at superspeed.
