Hello everyone. I came across this site by accident, and thought I should join in. I have lots of pets, all dogs. I rescued them all from our local shelter, which has a 75% euthanasia rate. It's very sad really, but they all have a great home now. Believe it or not, I have 10 dogs. lol I know, it's a lot, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I thought I should introduce them to you all.
That is quite a motley crew you have. I really like Rocky. I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 6 turtles, and ? fish. It's an endless cycle of feeding, scooping poop, cleaning puke, sweeping hairballs. WOW, 10 dogs!! Are you planning on any more?
Well, my husband and I went to the shelter the other day and saw some gorgeous dogs. Sadly, they have 114 at the shelter right now! My hubby is begging me for another dog, as he wouldn't get anything without my approval, but I don't know...I'm home all day with them, and he is usually at the office, or on business trips. He's only home about 20% of the time. But I'm considering maybe adopting another, as it would break my heart to see one put to sleep. I don't know though...Our shelter has a high euthanasia rate, which makes it even worse. Not a lot of people like to adopt from shelters, and I can't begin to count the times we've donated to the shelter, just so that they could build more cages or treat medical conditions. All the dogs are so sweet and beautiful, and I love them all! Oh, and to answer your question about being able to afford all the dogs...my husband owns his own business and makes a good sum of money. I'm very happy that he does, and has been doing it for a long time. I've estimated that each dog costs about $1,000 a year to care for, which for us is about $10,000, give or take a few bucks. He brings in enough money that we can pamper and spoil our dogs, and still live nicely ourselves. It's also nice being a stay at home doggie mama! lol
Yes, they all get along. I can't adopt a dog unless he/she is dog friendly. I've never had one problem with them. I make sure to bring at least a few of my dogs to the shelter each time I wish to adopt, just so I can see how they get along.
Well, I went to the shelter today, just to check out the dogs. Well, we came home with Q-Tip! lol She's a Siberian Husky Mix, about 5 years old. She's so precious! She has the most wonderful personality. We all love her so much. I took a picture of her right after I signed the adoption papers. I just had to preserve the moment! lol Well, here she is, 5 seconds after being adopted!
