oh what sweeties! can i ask you guys a question? when did you feel comfortable letting them run without a fence or leash? i would love for cooper to be able to play without confinement and know that he will come back to me. did you train them to come back to you when you call? or do they just get tuckered out and wander back? sorry if these are dumb questions, your dogs just look so happy!
We met like 2 years ago through TP but have been friends off TP ever since. So finally decided to meet.
I just started to take them off leash when they were young and they always stuck close. Also working on teaching them come and being reliable. Also - springers and I believe cockers are bred to stick close to their handler. Some hard core hunters will wander and not come back. Depends on the dog.

If I'm not mistaken Cooper is a Siberian Husky. Huskys should never, Never, NEVER be let off leash. My girls are two and wonderful about coming when called in our backyard that is fenced, but the minute they get out front of our house they "head for the hills". My way of saying they go deaf and dumb and just keep running the opposite direction.
I splurged on mine Duchess.. Was like 270 at future shop. Found it at like 250 at the superstore... Future shop dropped the price to 246 for me, and I took it. I'm pleased with my photo quality from it, was worthwhile.
Cider's my dog. We are back in Ontario now.
Not a stupid question angetcooper. I was always envious of people's dogs running off leash. Cider was unreliable unless fenced in. We went to the tennis court daily for fetch. In june one day she decided we weren't leaving, and people were waiting.. I got her finally got a long line worked hard.. Didn't fix it. Got an ecollar, with Gunny's help trained her right, and often enough the beep was enough correction. In a month things were better, like 6 months later I let her off with out it some. Better when there's less distraction of roads and such. In a forest I don't worry at all. She comes reliably.
