you can start them now I use hartgaurd plus. it helps prevent haertworms, hookworms, and round worms. you have to get haert worm meds from your vet so you will most likly use what they have. I'm suprised they haven't started them out yet. My vet always give us a sample pill for our puppies when we take them in for their new puppy exam. He even gave me one for a puppy we shipped to south carolina. I guess they have masquioto's(sp) bad back there.
Personally I'm a big fan of sentinal. All my dogs are on it, and my chi is for 2 - 20 lbs. It depends on the size of the dog. The sooner you can start the better. We live in a mosquito infested area too, and thanks for the reminder, it's our pill day too! Since all of my dogs have been on this we haven't had a problem with any fleas either. It either works great or I've been very lucky. You know I just realized I'm always complaining about where I live. We do have a nice beach, and fishing, boating, etc...but if you've read my other posts you'd think I live in he**, well, sometimes I think I do. I don't know if it's just where I live or if it's like this everywhere. I'll try not to complain so much.
I thought I would mention...my litter was started at 6 weeks, as I said on Filaibits Plus (chewable tablets, based on weight), they were each about 10 pounds at that point. BUT..what I really wanted to share is this, I had my adult dogs on Revolution, easy treating everything once a month, all at one time. My vet has discontinued selling it for dogs. Still has it for cats, but has had 2 dogs come up with positive h/w screenings after having been on it. My adults are now on Heart Guard and everyone is healthy. Just thought I would share in the event anyone else out there is still using the Revolution for their dogs.
