To Halo, you don't know this person so who are you to stand in judgement. Maybe her story is not real, but in the chance that it is, how would you feel being attacked like that. Didn't you just loose a dog? What if we all decided you just made it up so we would give you sympathy? And didn't someone feel so bad for your loss that they gave you not one, but two dogs??? And what about being inoccent until proven guility. I mean it is not like you are giving her the dog yourself, or it will cause you any loss of an animal. How about some good old human kindness and compassion? I mean when my husband left, I could not pay my mortage payments, my electric, or propane or phone. Do you think I should have gotten rid of my entire kennel? I just prayed and scraped by, and had it not been for the kindness of others, I would not be digging out of this financial hole. One person sent me coupons for 15 Free bags of Pro Plan. Yes I know most of you do not like Pro Plan, but it was all I had. My vet lets me make payments. And one person who had gotten a pup from me 5 years ago, found out about my troubles and a card with photos of there dog they love so much was inside along with a check for $100. But I just groomed dogs, boarded dogs, sold what I could and managed to hold it together. Barring any major problems I should start to be on level ground in a couple of more months. People have bad things happen to them, and as far as filling a void, so what. There were days in the past 3 years if it had not been for my dogs, I don't know if I would have gotten out of bed. They were my reason for going on. So if a dog is what this person needs in there life to help them through this tough time, I say BULLY FOR THEM. I am sure the dog will be getting tons of love showered on them. And I am sure if the dog needs vet treatment and does not have funds, someone will be there to help. I know when I was finally able to sell my travel trailer, I took some of the money and paid it forward.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
not true HALO .. i can't afford the 1800 or some odd dollars it will take to buy an english bulldog and i make ok money and i don't have a mountain of medical bills to pay. i desperately want a bully and have been looking to buy one cheaper, like without papers or older for months. but come on .. on a monthly basis paying for supplies and vet bills is completely different than shelling out a large amount right up front. but on a more positive note i would have to agree with you. her sob story does seem a little hmmm *sniffs but i guess you gotta do what ya gotta do. even if it is true .. exploiting her husband's death for gain is pathetic i think. i still *sniffs smell fish though!!! huh .. call me a skeptic. i've been called worse!!
For ALL the skeptics and nay sayers on this subject:
#1...Y'all have every right to any opinion you choose. #2...I do take exception with the ill thought out and unsupported logic (follow the leader??).
A...If she can't afford price, she can't afford dog...Everyone here knows some about my Scarlet Macaw which I lost to cancer (?) when he was 10yrs. As Paul Harvey says; Now the rest of the story. When I got him, I was recovering from a serious Cycle wreck. I had very little money, hadn't had a payday in 4mos, sure as heck didn't have the $1800 to buy him. The Gentleman I got him from let me have with NO CASH, small weekly payment (I had some money each week from S&A benefits). B...If you think the food and vet care for a dog is great, you don't know nuthin yet. To keep a large parrot properly, it takes $25/$30 per wk minimum (fruit, veggies, seed, pellets, and treats)for food. Vet care is much higher for a bird than dog/cat (must be Avian Vet). Good toys for a Macaw start at about $50. A good cage is a min of $500. I got by till my settlement came in (in 6mos) through good friends and credit. C...She shouldn't have been on i'net so soon after a death. My oldest son was Burned to death in auto accident about 1mo before I got Springer. It sure helped keep me from going NUTS to have my baby to care for. D...As for the rants about improbable cancer, her asking for handouts, etc; They aren't even worthy of a response.
Sorry the "rest of the story" got so long. Thanks all the rest for your sympathy and understanding. I pray that none of the unbelievers ever get in a similar situation. Also, I seek no sympathy for me, as all my problems were long ago. Save it for the next one who comes here looking for a kind word.
wow i have been gone for while... but yea... i was young to be married, but i married him beacause i loved him and we knew that he was dying from brian cancer. we wanted to be married. and it doesnt bother me that some people think that the story may not be true i dont have to prove it to anyone because i dont want anything from anyone except some help finding a dog. And i had a husky growing up so i know how much work goes into taking care of them. Maybe i shouldnt have told the story, but i thought i would gain some friends. But for the people who have been tryig to help me, i have good news, i found a puppy! An adorable lil girl in my area (chambersburg) for about 300. she doesnt have papers but thats not really important to me. shell have lots of love! ill post pictures as soon as i can pick her up next week!! thanks for all your help!!
Hey Twotoneeyes, Hooray for you! I didn't realise you were that close. I am in Dover, York County. Also, I am so glad you did return here and update us. I wish you only the best with your new pup, and indeed your life now. I will pray for your peace and comfort.
Halo, weren't you just "given" two puppies with papers days after your dog died? From what I remember, alot of people didn't believe your story either. What's does the pot call the kettle? ------------------------------------------ First of all, I was never really in a financial rut after Bella died. It was more mental than anything, and still is.. you take it as it comes, and deal with it daily. I did have to pay a 500 dollar vet bill, but had I really wanted another dog at that time.. I still could have went out and bought one. The fact is that I didn't, the lady heard about my problem at the vets office and gave me the dogs. I never gave a sob story about being lowing on cash with a sick family member asking for a handout, nor would I ever. That is the difference.
If it makes you feed good about yourself to bring up my defenseless Shih Tzu that was poisoned by menu foods.. you go right on ahead. I wouldn't expect much less, really. :D
Besides, my dog died due to tainted dog food.. as well as 1000's of others.. and they are going to get away with it simply because I didn't allow the vet to chop up my Bella after she died and put her kidneys on ice. I let her rest peacefully, it wasn't worth it.
For the pot to call the kettle black, genius.. I think I'd be having to ask for a free dog, and I never did that. :D Also, I got ONE dog with papers.. so you're aware. Not two. ONE was a DESIGNER DOG. *grin* Uh oh, I let the vultures out. *laughs*
Hi Twotoneeyes, As for me, my Wife has a Chihuahua/Fox Terrier mix now, and I am hoping to get a Dogue De Bordeaux pup in July/Aug. I also have 5 large Parrots.
Also,Halo, though I don't usually do this, and I was one who defended you in the past, please; if you can only spew venom, do it more quietly. The Girl DIDN'T ask for a FREE pup. At least tell it the way it really is.
wow... i really didnt expect this to happen. i thought i might find some other animal lovers that had been in similar experiences in their lives to talk to. i have found the dog that i wanted (and PAID for). shes only 8 pds now and has the prettiest blue eyes! any name suggestions let me know!... o shes white and tan!
Halosfire - youre clearly bitter about something in your life and whatever it is im sorry to hear it. god bless
