I don't think Gracie has ever been swimming before. She was terrified of the water when we first got there. I had to get in with her and she followed me around. By the end of the hour she was chasing sticks around in the more shallow parts, but getting up to her chest, yay!!
awww, Gracie is adorable, But how did you get her to already be off leash and listen to you, your awesome, if you can teach that dog that quick!!! Angel is good off leash, ONLY if my moms around LOL And if I take her leash off in the drive way, she will follow me around. Good luck with your three beautiful english springer spaniels. Oh and riley, I forgot to tell you, my aunt has a springer spaniel named Fiona, Next time I go to visit them I will take pictures of her and send them to you. My Aunt completely spoils that dog LOL They use to have another springer spaniel named Doolye, but he was extremely old, fell deff and then one day she walked in the house and founed him just lying their, it broke her heart :( Dooley was a good dog, but he would sometimes be a little bit aggressive, when people he didn't know came around, he would block the gate so they could not go to the door and he would bark loudly and meanly. Their springer Fiona, she is and Angel, such a friendly dog. I have only seen Fiona once for about 7 hours, I think she was a brownish color, and dooley was a black springer spaniel. Your pictures were cute :)
Springers tend to be dogs that do well off leash, because they are bred to stay close to their handler. Gracie has a great recall and comes as soon as you say her name, so we tried her off leash.. first yesterday in an area where there were no cars. She did just fine and stayed right beside us.
Today we did a trail in the woods along a stream, again, she did just fine. She followed behind Riley running through the woods, and came back to us with him.
She is really an awesome dog. Besides the fact she licks plates and jumps on people, she is VERY well behaved.
Good for you! You've already gotten her to swim and stay off - leash? What a good girl! *sigh* I wish my dogs had a good recall. My lab goes outside off - leash with me when I get the dog's food but that's it. She thinks she can go further when you get withing 10 feet of her. = My golden.. depends on his mood. He'll tear up the blinds when I go outside without him so I usually end up going in and getting him so he doesn't get into trouble.. He is usually grateful and will stay where I tell him to but I can't really let him walk around on his own or else he gets too comfortable and once he gets past the driveway he usually takes of. = My beagle, forget it, lol. That's definatley not a beagle thing, ha ha.
Well, have fun with Gracie. When will you start teaching her agility? ;-)

WOW, Thats awesome Riley, I never new that springers were normally always bred to stay near to their owners, thats awesome. My Aunts old dog dooley(the springer) he was always off leash, they had a big peice of land in the woods, and Fiona, I don't think they have ever taken her off leash, she is in a fenced backyard. The pictures of Gracie are beautiful, I wish I had found this website whn me and my family had lived in our old home, because we had owned 3.5 acres of woods and about one acre of land with no trees, it was awesome me and Angel were always in the woods, we always had her off leash then, she always cam back home. Whenever the schoolbus would come to drop me off, Angel would wait for me, and if she wasn't their I just wistled or screamed her name and you would see this little dot from the distance running down the driveway LOL WOW, Angel is the reason I ever liked New Jeresy, she always finds a way to help me through every move :) I love my dog so much! And Gracie, wow, she is gorgous, I bet your proud to have her around, and that is wonderful that you have her off leash already, you are a wonderful doggy owner :) The poodle owner and the poodle pup
