flip195- small world, I was born in Merthyr Tydfil, and later moved to Norfolk. When I was a kid the hunt was alive and well, I don't know what it's like now, having been away for so many years from the U.K. My daughter lives in France and recently told me about a particularly horrifying incident. There are many English and American people (actually many different non-natives) living in the south of France, around her. She has a friend who is a little old English lady who is a great animal lover, and bans fox hunting on her land. Her land is posted, but my daughter's partner, who is French, says this serves as encouragement for the hunters. This old lady had found an orphaned fox and fed it,returned it to the wild, but it still hung around. One day she looked out her window to see 2 vehicles racing across her field towards her house, chasing a fox. Someone shot it, but only wounded it in the leg.The old lady tried to get to them, but as she watched, and not being able to move as fast as some of us, she saw the men kicking the fox, and waited until a 3rd vehicle roared up, let out their dogs, who proceeded to rip the fox to pieces. The old lady finally got there, and they were laughing at her, and swearing at her in French. It was her rescued orphan.Sorry if this is off topic, but another example of true animal cruelty. To the OP, how's the babies doing?
I DO think banding a tail and letting it fall off is wrong! Can you imagine how painful that would be? We had a cat once when I was a little girl that our cousin put a rubber band around it's ankle. My parents didn't notice it for a couple days because it was a thin rubber band and the hair covered it and the cat almost lost that paw. I don't remember much about it because I was little so only remember the story of it, but the cat was in a lot of pain. Obviously the cat was older than a newborn puppy, but I can't imagine just letting the tail rott off like that! At least when you dock the tails at the vet - it's a quick cut and the tail heals up so fast. Letting them fall off is a longer process. I have never heard of a reputable breeder doing such a thing - sounds like something that thugs and mills do to their dogs. I would never buy a puppy from someone that banded the tails.
Just don't even lesson what SBG says. Remember she is the one that holds the dogs head under water to stop them digging and now bands the tails! I know what if feels like when I lay on my arm wrong and the circulation it pinched off.(old age thing) It hurts like heck and I can't imagine leaving it that way until it falls off!
Has anyone called AC on this person yet! Where do you live? Does anyone know?
But I guess it saves you a whole lot of money! I can see what Flip is taking about with the conduct of the byb or puppy mill crap!
