My cat urinates on all of our belongings if it is on the floor. Mostly my wifes stuff. But when he gets bored of that it is onto the carpet. I am at my wits end with him. I may have waited to long before he was neutered. He was a stray, and about to become one again. I CANNOT TAKE IT. Please any advice would be helpful. Thank you, Rick
Sometimes that can be consider dominace. He is tring to own everything. On the other hand, if he was a stray, he never had to use a litter box. It is hard to tell if he is spraying or what. My boss had that problem, and she brought the cats to our dog grooming shop and that was were they lived. You could try putting him in a laundry room or something. good luck
So, is the cat neutered now? There is nothing worse than the smell of a male cat spraying in the house. I remember an older lady in town that had her cats and dogs inside her home 24/7 when I was little. You could actually smell the animal urine, when you were walking by on the sidewalk. Not sure how she could live like that, but when she passed on, they burnt that house to the ground. It was uninhabitable.
My cat, Angel, used to pee all the time. I remember one time I was at my dad's house and I sat down for breakfast and I sat in lots of cat pee- the only pants I had at my dad's house besides that were these old jeans that didn't reach my ankles. It really sucked, Angel eventually grew out of it. she's always been a really nervous cat but it just took time. Also, getting her fixed does help. But if not you might have a house smelling like cat pee for awhile. good luck.
I have the same problem with 1 of 4 of my cats. I brought him to the vet and they checked for a bladder infection, kidney stones Etc. He was a stray as well and all the tests came out negative... It was clearly a behavior issue with my cat so the vet perscribed Valium or otherwise known as Diazapam. It did help but, when he get's stressed out with any change, Example: a new piece of furniture he will make it a point to urinate on it, or if it's a new table or something he will pee on the couch! I heard from someone to try putting Aluminum Foil on the couch before you leave home or are not in the house, Try to keep the Foil on your couch whenever it is not in use. It REALLY WORKS! Cats do not like to walk on the foil! I would imagine this would work in oter area's of your home as well. My cat Tigger has been a great deal better after this, He too would try and pee on anything that had my scent on it! My husband was ready to get rid of the cat but, I am so attached to him... I also listened to my vet as far as if you have more than 1 cat you should get a litter box for each cat and keep it clean!!! This has been a blessing in descise! I hope this helps with your cat as it did with mine, Cat's really aren't as Dumb as some people think! They do notice ANY change and get ANXIETY from time to time, Give your cat lot's of attention, When my husband started giving Tigger more attention he seemed like a happier cat! Good Luck!!!
They have a special brand of litter at Petco that is supposed to help with the kitties that urinate out of the box. My friend uses it with her cat (that was going all over her house) and says it really works.
