Can anyone recommend a good food for my shih-tzu pup? He is 6 months old and his former owner was feeding him dry pro plan. I have been feeding him canned Nutro Max. Is this good food or should I try something else?
I have my Lhasa Apso on Addiction Wild Kangaroo & Apples. I am very pleased with it. Its great for skin and coat, for his allergies, and he likes it! He was on Eukanuba as a puppy, and had horrible breathing, couldn't sleep for more than a few minutes without waking up. I was told to accept it because he is a short nose dog. Since I've started feeding better food, his breathing has greatly improved, no more snoring, he sleeps through the night, etc. Of course, you need to decide what is best for your dog, I am very pleased with this food.
Even if you are on the right track, you will still get run over if you just sit there. (Will Rogers)
I really like Eagle Pack Holistic, and the dogs love it.There are quite a few good foods on the market, Canidae, Wellness ,Van Pattens, Timberwolf Organics, Innova, etc etc. Have a look at te sticky at the home page of dog talk. It's by Wiley and it's a food grading system. Good luck, Pen
Thank you for the suggestions. My shih-tzu is a sure a different dog than my lab was! My lab would eat the same food every day, but my shih likes variety. He gets tired of the same food every day. Also, he has a hard time getting all of the food out of the dish because of his short nose and he doesn't like getting food on his face.
