Over the past few months my grey tabby has lost a lot of weight. I have not changed his diet. Every so often his breathing becomes quite labored and he wheezes rather excessively. It seems to take a lot of energy for him just to breathe normally. He's also been vomiting a lot recently. Can anyone tell me what is going on? thanks in advance.

How old is your cat? Has he had all his immunizations? This could be a number of things, but the loss of weight is a cardinal sign of some serious diseases, as is the labored breathing. Take him to the vet as soon as possible.
You don't mention how old your cat is. But what you are describing sounds quite serious. You should go to your vet to check her, do the bloodwork and chest x-ray. Could be primarily respiratory problem (infection, asthma) or more commonly cardiac disease. Both of them if cought on time could prolong her life and comfort significantly if treated.
