omfg....what is the matter with people, starving a dog for art? how can people be so heartless adn creul to an animal, just for art. i tell you what, this isn't art. this is just plain creul. i don't think i'll ever be able to understand these people's reason for doing this.
I have been following this story, tryng to make sense of a nonsensical and brutally cruel act. Not only is Vargas to blame, but so are the people who went to the art gallery, and did nothing to help that poor sweet dog. I imagine something will be said about cultural differences regarding this, and I say BULL%$/T to that. This is exactly what it looks like, an inhuman and horribly cruel, criminal act. I`d like to see Mr. Vargas tied up in an art gallery to see if he enjoyed being perused as he slowly starved to death. I`ve seen some disgusting things, but this ranks up there as one of the most depraved.
I'm really confused about this story because now he's saying that it was just to set an example. To make people think the dog was starving to expose the hypocrisy that people didn't care when dogs starve on the street but they cared because it was in the gallery. But now he's claiming he was feeding it and then they set it free. It didn't really die. I can't find it in any legitimate news venues so I can't decide what the truth is. But the picture I saw was terrible. Why would anyone let him do that either way?
Regardless of what Vargas has to say, it does'nt take a rocket scientist to take one look at that poor dog, and realize it should be in an animal hospital, hooked up to an I.V. The dog was starving, and even if he did what he said he did, there was no water or food sitting in front of the dog, and look at the way he was tied.Vargas is back peddling as fast as he can, and he should be proving his statements with veterinary records, and pictures.
Yes there was a living dog tied up. That part has never been up for question. What we don't know is if he was feeding the dog or if in fact it died of starvation. Noone at this point knows. The artist claims he fed the dog and let it go back in the streets where it came from. So really, we'll probably never find out the truth.
When you think you have heard of everything some idiot comes up with something like this. Truth or not this world is getting more and more cruel. Animals and children seemed to get the biggest bunt from all of it. I have always believed that a person that can be cruel to an animal will do anything. They have a cruel heart and something missing upstairs. It just infuarates me to hear something like that. Like I said, real or not maybe this nut would like to be the next exhibit. T
Agentcooper, click on the link that the OP has, or google Vargas, starving animal art, and it comes up with more than enough information for me. The picture in which he has the dog tied in the middle of a rope going crossways in a corner is particularly disturbing to me. The other pictures I've been able to find show a painfully thin, dog with open sores. I'm sorry, but Vargas can talk till he's blue in the face. That dog needed veterinary care, and even if he did feed it and water it every 3 hours, it would not have been sufficient treatment for that dog. If you notice, he was also laying on a concrete floor, no water, and no food anywhere in sight. Personally, I could'nt care less how Vargas, or the gallery wants to justify this. I believe they should be prosecuted.
found some links... i just stopped sobbing. i cannot believe this. i just can't. i think i've never heard anything more disgusting. this person deserves to suffer and EVERY ONE of those sick people who just looked on as an animal died deserve it too. Is there anything we can do? I clicked the gallery links in the OP, but on the Care2 page it says the links are disabled. Do we just send the message to the email address? Thanks for responding. I haven't been this upset in a long time and I will make sure everyone I know reads the article.
edit to add- I found the link I needed to sign the petition. Thank You!

This guy is obviously seriously disturbed if he thinks he can make an example out of a starving dog tied in an art gallery. I don't think he will get away with it a second time, at least we can hope not. It sounds like the country he's supposedly targeting next is already aware, and unimpressed. I wish he'd come here and try it.
This guy is seriously sick in the head. It doesn't matter if he claims to have fed and watered this poor animal and let it go. If he found this poor starving dog in the streets he should have gotten it care. Even if it did survive he let it go back to the streets! Well he just let it die in the streets instead of in the gallery if it hadn't already died. I say let's tie this guy up with no food or water, and let him stay on a bare concrete floor until a statement is made!
pen...I wish I cold read the article you posted. Those were the most horrific pictures I have seen yet. It would be interesting to see what they have to say about it. I get the feeling that its just a regular write up about the exzibit. It breaks my heart.
