My cat Brody got out last night. he is a house cat and not very tough to defend himself if something bad happened. i dont know what time he got out, how long, how he even got out, or what he did while he was out, but he came back cold, scared and covered in poo(all over his back left thight). it smelled like dog poo but im not sure. i gave him a bath with some cat shampoo and then dried him off, he seemed fine, just scared (from the outside AND the bath). the next morning, my husband noticed that he was limping. (his front right leg) he can put weight on it, so i know its not broken. he doesnt seem to be in any pain, just tuckered out from the trauma of whatever happened to him. He is eating fine, just moves around a little slower. i also compared his two legs, there is a slight swelling, so thats why i think it might be a sprain. the only thing is, i dont know what to do! He's never had any medical problems, and ive never delt with something like this before, so im overwhelmed! do i take him to emergency, make an appointment with the vet, or just let him heal it out? ive been told that cats heal quickly, but i just dont want it to get worse...should i watch closely for a day or two and see if he gets better? My mother in law's Dachshund runs and jumps off of couches all the time, and from time to time he would hurt his leg or back, move around slowly for a few days, then be back to normal...so should i just do that? but if he's not better in three days im definitely taking him to the vet....any help would be appreciated.

Has your cat had all his immunizations? If he had a scrap with a feral cat, and is not up to snuff with his own vaccions, he could get very ill. I would worry more about that than the sprain. I hope he's better soon.
