I am considering a cocker spaniel as an addition to our family. I was just wondering if they shed a lot? I was reading that you have to bathe and brush them quite a bit. If there is anything else that is good to know it would be very helpful. thank you
I personally have never seen a cocker shed alot. I groom them on a regular basis. The grooming can be expensive, and The shedding also depends on the amount of hair you want to keep on them. I shorter clip means less hair all around.
They are prone to severe ear infection, and allergies. We do one who ears itch so much, and hurt from the infection that he crys while he is itching. I did one today that has hot spots all the time from allergies, he also went deaf from his ear infections.
Granted most are not that bad, but anything is possible. there are alot of cocker rescues, that would be a good place to start. You might find you next true love on dogfinders.com or a shelter, or rescue. Good luck
