I like pressed rawhide, and pressed porkhide. I also give me the regular rawhide chips. No bone with knots at the end. I have mini aussies, they are agressive chewers, but I have never had a problem with them. I only purchase rawhide that is made in the usa. When I had big aussies, I would use cow hooves. They can break teeth, but I never had a problem with them.
what you are looking for is the holy grail of dog chewies for bully breeds and we've been looking for years and years for the perfect chewie. it does not exist. MAYBE your dog would like deer antlers, cause they last a while and don't stink up your house or stain everything it touches, but they are hard, not soft like rawhide. our dogs don't really like them.
we do give our dogs the regular rawhides with the knots at the end. we get the biggest ones we can find and supervise them when they chew so they don't swallow any pieces (i've had to fish pieces of rawhide out of my dog's throat many times). Anything smaller and they would chew it 3 times then swallow.
Petco has "gourmet" rawhides with flavors like vanilla and rootbeer, and our dogs freakin' love those things.
We stopped giving pressed rawhide cause they don't last any longer than regular rawhide and they break apart into little chunks faster. we've had way more choking incidents with compressed rawhide than regular rawhide.
you can give them the huge beef bones but those are a mess, and the basted ones you find everywhere are a serious choking hazard. they get all crumbly and mess everything in your house up.
so, in a nutshell, we stick to regular giant rawhide bones and the really dense rubber kong with peanut butter in them.
As long as they're chewing on the gross things outside, I give mine beef soup bones, and sometimes venison bones. That's of course if you have a yard and they can chew and play undisturbed with you checking on them. I can't give my dogs pig's ears, even thoughthey love them,in fact, I can't give them anything that's going to rip into a chokable size, because they inhale everything.
