Well Snoopy is a 9 week old Chi-Weinie who is full of love and life. At 4 weeks of age it was confirmed that due to a birth defect his eyes never developed ( i cant remember what the vet called it some long medical term). But we are now beginning to wonder if he is deaf or hard of hearing or just had selective hearing??? But we are looking for some tips on trainind and caring for him. We have a large dog family, including him there are 6 and we have a baby on the way that is due in the next few weeks. He seems to get around the house really good, but i am having trouble potty training him and just worry about him in general. If anyone has any advice, suggestions or tips on how to raise him please, feel free to message me.
Does he happen to have a white head, or lots of white on it, and blue eyes? A simple test I do for deafness is just to stand behind the dog, and clap loudly. Of course you can have him Bayer tested to get an exact definitive answer.
I feel sorry for this poor puppy, and if you breed these two AGAIN you could very likely end up with the same problem in one or more puppies, or possibly even worse problems. It is past time to do the responsible thing and spay and neuter the parents!
Pen2, I looked at the pics of the parents before I saw this post. The mother (chi) has a completely white head and I think the male (chi/dachs) has at least a white ear. Both are spotted and likely merled, so you know what that means. Too bad this "breeder" didn't.
