I am wanting to get pet insurance for the kids. I have 5 cats and 2 dogs. I checked VPI and it is going to be 2,534 a yr. I am trying to save a little money on vet bills. They are killing me latey. I figure one lump sum is cheaper then taking and paying full amounts and not getting refunded. Kane and Sheba are both older. VPI want cover Sheba b/c he is 12yrs old. He needs insurance just like the others do
If we ban Pit Bulls and Rottweilers are humans some dont like next ?
I think it is the biggest waste of money. I put some money away every month in a savings account. At least their it gain interest. If the monthly payment is $30 a month, put that into an account for pets only. I would never get pet insurance.
I have VPI and I have to agree that it is a waste of money. I have a multi pet discount and an additional discount for getting it through a payroll deduction at work so I am keeping the policies for now. I just think that maybe when the kitties are old and need more care, it will pay off. You do have to get it when they are younger if you want the coverage when they get old because they will not take on coverage for an elderly pet. But read the fine print and check the Schedule of Coverage before you buy a policy. Everything is paid after a deductible and based on an allowed amount so you will still end up having to pay the balance. And then there is always the shocker of finding out the condition was not covered because they consider it "pre existing" or "congenital". I got stuck with a $3,000 bill when my kitten Dolly passed away because it was a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Right now I have been sitting around 3 weeks waiting for them to deny Kira's $250 bill because I am sure they will find some way to say that she developed a nasal polyp before the policy became effective.
