this is really more for the breeders out there, but I figured I would see if anyone has Ideas. I have a mini aussie (Angel), this is her second litter. She is 3yrs old, and yes had all her testing. I did a back to back litter, I will skip her next. Anyway she is not due for about another 2 wks, and she is panting alot. I know she isn't in labor, and the panting is not really labored breathing. She just looks uncomfortable. she is eating great, drinking great, still wanting to play ball(all the time). She is definatly bigger this time, then last, so I wasn't sure if if was the fact she just feels pregnant.
I didn't know if that was anything I could do to make her more comfortable. I personally have never had kids, so I don't even know what she is going through. Hoping for my next show dog in this litter, I can wait to see what she has.
A trip to the vet for an x-ray or ultrasound is needed. She may be carrying a large litter or have very large pups. Either way bitches have been known to die from congestive heart failure due to presure on the lungs. Take her to the vet! My friend's dog died during the night because an ignorant vet refused to take this condition seriously.
Thanks DRO... I hadn't thought of that. She goes for her x-ray tomarrow. I will mention it. Last litter she only had 4, and wondered if she was pregnant all the way up to her x-ray. It was a very easy litter for her. I am sure she is carring more this time as she is getting quite big(for her). I will have the vet look into the heart and lungs. The appt. is first thing in the morning. thanks again.
