HAVE HER SPAYED. If you are thinking about breeding at 1yr old, it is clear you have no clue what you are doing. She should not be bred until she is 2yrs, had her OFA x-rays sent to OFA and got a rating of good or excellent, been seen by a canine opthamologist, and had a CERF test, and any other tests needed for a golden. She should compete in some sort of canine sport and prove she is worth breeding.
Every heat she has until she is breed, and after she is bred you risk several infections that could kill her. Any complications during delivery could kill her.
How about the pups? when people buy them and their life changes, are you taking them back? What about a health guarentee, did you know that under many states there is a puppy lemon law? It means you are responsible for any health problems the puppies have. There is a lot more to breeding then a female comming into heat and picking any male to put her with. That includes possible STD's
I agree with illusionminis, if you cannot even tell when your dog is in heat, then breeding her is not an option! There is enough good breeders that can gaurantee healthy puppies, and breeding a dog at a year old is just too young, they are still growing themseves at that age!
Another reason to NOT BREED is the huge number of Golden Retrievers already registered. They have been soo over bred that there are many serious health problems and some dangerous temperament issues in the breed. I used to have a top breeder/handler of Goldens handle my Bullmastiffs and he was very concerned about which bloodlines he brought into his breeding program as he didn't want to have these problems show up in any future litters. Please have your dog spayed instead of breeding her.
