hey everyone okay well i need so help! I have two cats that are a little over a year old. Well, the have been living in my garage and computer room/guest room. but all they do when there inside is look out the window. I feel really bad because i feel like im being selfish because im to scared to let them lose outside on there own, Im afraid that they will run away or get lost. My question is, do you think that if i let them live outside and cracked the garage door so that they could get in and out as they please that they will run away?! my mom says that cats are differant from dogs and that they will come back to where their food and shelter is. But i dont listen, I really just want whats best for them thourgh. Please help me!
Cats live longer healthier lives when they are kept indoors. Outside they can be hit by cars, killed by dogs or wild animals or even harmed by cruel humans. They are also exposed to diseases that they can never get if kept indoors. My cats are Persians and can never be allowed outside. But they love to sit in windows. We call it "kitty tv". They watch the birds, bugs and squirrels from the safety of their window. It does not mean they would be happier outside. The minute I open a window so they can get fresh air they all crowd around. But that's all they want (or need) is some time in the window watching the wildlife and a breath of fresh air through the safety of their window.

I have agree, cats really don't belong outside all the time. I am allergic, so most of mine were outdoors. Now that I have my own home, I don't have cats. I would only allow them to look out the window and wonder. If you really want the best of both worlds, there are kitty tunnels that you can get that keep you cat inside the tunnel outside in the world. You could also leash train them and take them for a walk. Good luck
I agree with max and illusionminis,I have 4 cats and they are indoor only, there is just to many "ickys" and problems when they go outside. I have several cat condos that alows them to be up high to look through the windows, and keep them from scratching the furniture, and they couldn't be happier :) and on the leash training, I would use a harness, because they will pull too much when they are getting use to being led around, and they might hurt themselves. That is what I use.
