I'm sadly surprised at the scant number of dachshund posts and conversations happening. I know most people refer to this forum only when something potentially bad is happening to their pet, but I encourage you all to check back more often. Talking with other pet owners can be the greatest thing for you- and your dog. Learning new training techniques and tricks is fun for everyone involved, and simply talking about your pet will put you in a better mood for the rest of the day.

Oscar my wienerdog is a year old red brindle bun full of fun! I love training and playing with him. My dog is a Canine Good Citizen and will soon be a therapy dog! :)
Don't feel so bad. Life is very busy out there and people just are not themselves lately. I myself find that I am spending about 1/4 of my time on the computer versus 5 years ago. Peopla are taking their kids to functions, playing video games, and laying in front of the tv. I love my dogs and they are a very important part of my life. Precina' (means little girl in Italian) is 9 years old and still loves to play with toys. This brings me the greatest joy. My old boy, Ozzie Dog, he goes around and around when he is asked about a treat. I video tape lots of these moments because I know that my dogs will not last forever. I live in my house alone while my husband works in another state. He does not call to talk to me or email about what he is doing. My dogs are more loyal than the one I married. I try to give these animals all of the love that I cannot give to others. I also notice that people who do not like animals normally do not like people. Ozzie is from Australia. I worked with a breeder and they had a method of helping with the birth, touching the dogs right out of the womb, and helping with feeding extra milk. My Ozzie is the most calm dog that anyone has ever seen. My vet says that ozzie is a cool dude. He is very socialized. If you ever get a chance, fly over to Germany. 98% of the population have dogs and you can go to a 4 star resturant and if you dog is good, he gets his own chair to sit on. I loved that place. I took my dog everywhere. Dogs bring people together. I would not have met half of the people in my life without my cute dogs. I love how you use the name Doxie. In America lots of times they are called weiner dogs. In Australia they are called sausage dogs. In Germany they are Doxie's. Good to chat with you and don't give up on these blogs. People are basically lazy and we have a whole new generation of laziness and lack of respect. No more please and thank you. No more having to listen to people cuss and put others down. No more seeing the boy next door mow the lawn for the little old lady for a plate of cookies and milk. I am only 50 yrs old and I am so proud of what I have learned and what I want to continue to teach others. Idiots breed other idiots. But stupid can be fixed. It just takes time, patience, and people like us. We care and we love our dogs and everything that our dogs love.
There are a number of queries that have never been answered on this site too, so a lack of discussion is just a lack of people on the site, living in the real world takes up so much time and energy so that living on a forum site comes second in most people's lives. But it is good to read what people have put up but we usually only turn to these sites in times of trouble, me included!
