Just venting, but my neighbor told me this morning that he saw a couple kids chasing my beautiful Annabelle with a broom one afternoon a few weeks ago. I had seen them outdoors with her earlier, trying to pet her in their awkward way, and then I left for the afternoon. They said they loved cats, and now I find this out. Do you think I'd go to jail if I tell them I'll hurt them if they hurt my kitty? ;)
yeah, i think threatening children never looks good, no matter how rotten they are. Try being less emotional about it when you talk to them. tell them why that is cruel and that you'll report them to the SPCA and police if you hear about it again. If they give you lip call the SPCA and the cops.
I don't think I would threaten them personally, but I would threaten to tell their parents or call the cops. Little kids are always afraid their parents will find out something they've done, and they're ALWAYS afraid of cops. Fin
While I was mad when I found out, just so you know, I'm not going to threaten them. I was only kidding about that. But I was thinking about telling the one kids dad. They're only in my development every other weekend and the dad is nice, so I'm sure if I said something to him he'd tell his son to knock it off. Believe me, a lot of my friends have given me looks for letting my cat outside, and for the first year I had her, I didn't. I adopted her from the spca when she was about a year and a half old. They said they found her in a trap--not sure what that means, but she was very obviously someone's pet (had been spayed). I didn't declaw her and she seemed happy staying in until this spring, when she would constantly try to sneak out when I opened the door and just seemed miserable. I had thought about getting another cat, but my boyfriend, who I met after I got her, is allergic. So I started letting her out for short periods of time and she loves it. She is like a whole different animal. I bring her in at night, since I think that that is when most accidents happen. I would prefer it if she'd stay inside, but I feel like I'd be keeping her in prison, since she must have been an outdoor cat before I got her.
