My familt and I are going to Disney world in March, so this is far ahead. We nee dto make plans far ahead. NO family or pet sitters are avaiable during the time we will be gone. We have found lots of good kennels, The dog has their own couch, TV, kennel like room indoor and outdoor, fenced in area where they can socialize with dogs that are good with other dogs, and you can rbing toys, food, ect. Food and water are avaiable at all times. They play soft music in the kennels to soothe the dogs as well. People are there 24'7. Do you think it would be ok for Shadow to be there? She'd miss us, but it would probably be the best thing for her...What do you think?
Go check them out, see if you can take Shadow there for a few hours at a time starting now to get him used to it. One of the few alternatives is the vet offices that board also, but the living arrangements for the boarders are not even close to what you described. It sounds like a nice place, but see if they do daycare beforehand, and give it a try. LTLGTO
Thank you, and yes, My mom and I will check it out ahead of time, and take Shadow another time if we like it before we leave. They have free grooming too, not that it matter, jsut thought I should say it. ^^
I agree with ltlgto and Allie. That's awesome that you're going to Disney World! We were going to go in May, but think it would be better to pay off bills :o). We went last December with the kids and loved it. If you guys aren't staying at the hotels in Disney World, there actually are hotels that allow pets, if that's an option. Oh Shadow....if your mum hasn't booked the trip yet, and you need help finding good prices let me know. My mum in law and I do a lot of disney trips for people. My mum in law used to work for disney, so she knows all the deals, and she taught it all to me. :o)
Yeah, I wish I could bring Shadow. Sadly, since we most likely wouldn't be at the hotel most of the time anyways, it would be unfair to leave her alone in there. In the summer my parents promised to go on a vaction we could bring her on. But this was sort of short notice, and we're probably staying in the hotel Caribean beach...even though I like wilderness lodge the best. :) If we decide not to take her to the kennel, my uncle has a large house, fenced in backyard, a dog-loving cat (shadow LOVES cats) and a friendly dog too. She stayed there last time and had fun. Hopefully He will be avaiable! Thanks for your help, everyone!
Kennel is insured, Uncle is not. Make sure she has had kennel cough up the nose drops 2 wks. approx. before going to kennel and that you have proof of all her other shots. They will require that. Take her food, toy etc. Make sure they can be called for updates on dog. Bet fancy place like that will even let you talk to the dog.
if you want to know how she is going to do there, and since she has never stayed at a kennel before, you may want to book her there for a night to see how she does. like maybe once a month from now til then book her for 1 overnight stay. that way she gets used to the place and won't mind being left for a week.
