There are some dog services that just go way beyond what you may expect to find, but are really a fun and time saving idea once you stop to think about it. One such business that is springing up in a very new way in various areas of the county is a dog event planner. These individuals actually plan, organize, facilitate and even staff all types of dog events from dog weddings through to doggy birthday parties or championship parties.

The great thing about these services is that they really do cater to dogs and their owners. Everything about the business is geared to making your doggy get together a terrific hit. Not only will you find that they have great package deals but most services also offer the option of custom types of planning as well. Each and every dog event planner seems to have a slightly different type of general package as well as extras, so shopping around is important before making a decision.

Generally most dog lovers enjoy having a little get together for their dog on some type of a special day. It is, after all, just as much fun for the dog owners as well. These types of events can celebrate everything from a dog birthday to a remembrance of the first day at your home or even winning some type of trophy, event or award. Each and every owner can set his or her own special date or just use an already established human holiday!

Some popular dates for having dog themed parties include the Christmas season, of course complete with all types of festive decorations and wonderful holiday treats. Other dates that lend themselves to doggy parties include Easter, featuring Easter bone hunts, Halloween with organic doggy treats or a traditional red, white and blue doggy themed Fourth of July Celebration.

Planning and organizing these events, especially if you haven't done one before, can be a bit hectic. Rather than leaving something up to chance, working with a professional dog event planner takes all the stress out of this wonderful day. If you are booking a human holiday party for your dog be sure to contact the dog event planner well in advance as they often limit the number of parties they do on any one day to provide top level service to each client. Most planners will require at least 30 days notice to plan a party, even when not on a specific holiday.

Since budget is typically a concern for most dog owners, knowing what you can afford to spend is important before talking to the planner. This will give them a better understanding of what to suggest to meet your decorating and party needs without breaking your budget requirements. Many dog event planners will have staff available that can help decorate and clean up afterwards, well worth the cost if you want to be able to also enjoy your dog's special day. If you are doing the decorating and clean-up yourself you can save some money, but you will also be very busy before, during and after the event.

Once you have the date fixed and the planner booked, the next step is to consider what theme you want the party to be. You may not have a specific theme in mind and the planner may be able to work with you to come up with a coordinated motif for the event. For some owners this may simply be choosing a favorite color for the ribbons, hats, decorations and even the gift bags each four legged guest will receive when they depart.

The location of the party will also be something that needs to be addressed prior to sending out invitations and completing the theme planning. Outdoors is a great idea for the spring, summer and autumn, but most winter events are best done indoors. If the party is going to be indoors it is important to have access to an outside area for those important and necessary trips and to also have appropriate cleaning supplies on hand. Some dog event planners offer staff for the party that will be there for emergency clean-ups or even to get dogs outside for a quick walk while the human guests sit back and relax.

The dog event planner will also work with you to set up a schedule of what needs to be done to pull off the big date without a hitch. They may or may not manage the invitations and the guest list, depending on your personal preference. Many dog event planners have photographers and printers they can work with to get you excellent deals on customized invitations or even photograph invitations with pictures of the guest of honor.

Just like wedding planners, dog event planners may also make suggestions for treats, doggy style cakes and gift bags for the guests to take home. Organic and natural types of treats and cakes are typically provided, with some dog planners offering baking and catering services. This does allow you to specify what ingredients can or cannot be used in the food preparation, which can be an important consideration for some dog owners.

Finally, the day of the big event the dog event planner will coordinate the decorating, organization and flow of the party. They may have games and events organized for guests if you have selected this option for the party. If you are renting space from them to hold the party all you will have to do is show up and plan to have fun, but if the party is at your house you will need to be there to supervise and let workers in and out ahead of time.

Whenever choosing a dog event planner be sure to ask for references and see what services they offer in different packages. Some dog event planners offer the option of having the event videotaped and transferred onto CD's to be sent to guests at a later time. Other companies may also offer dog massage services, dog grooming or spa treatments, pet photography or other little extras that are sure to make your dog party the talk of the canine social season.
