I've always fed my dogs some form of Purina Dog Food. As pups they get Puppy Chow, we prefer the Chicken flavor over Beef, it seems to be a little less harsh on their stomachs.
The bigger dogs eat Purina Dog Chow or Purina Hi Pro, depending on the dog, and the time of the year.
Plus if you feed enough Purina Dog Food throughout the year, you can join their Pro Club. Save the weight circles from enough bags and Purina will send you coupons good for $6 to $8 off your next purchase. When I had the Labs and Bassets, we went through lots of Purina Dog Chow.
Just thought I'd give my 2 cents worth, I am sold on Purina. My vet always comments on how nice my dogs are, so we must be doing something right.
Katz--where are you finding Natural Balance cheaper than Iams? I've only seen it priced considerably higher. I've considered feeding Natural Balance but can't find it for less than $40 for a 30 pound bag.
"now I realize that there are other dog foods out there that make your dog poop less?? Which ones are they and why?"
I know that the super premium brands like Canide and Flint River Ranch claim that dogs eat less since they don't have a lot of fillers like corn, and this seems to be true. Scruff loves FRR but doesn't eat nearly as much as he did with Nutro Max and Puppy Chow. One bowl full holds him until the next morning, when he quickly gobbles up whatever's left.
I'm not sure if he poops less or not since he goes outside all through the day.
