I just read a post regarding a guy looking for a shichon for his wife for Valentine's. He was very upfront and sincere, seemed like he was somewhat knowledgeable about what he was looking for and what he wanted. And then he was attacked by a bunch of people for not adopting a dog from a shelter. I have a couple of things to say regarding this.
1)People work, they earn their money, I have news for you, THEY CAN SPEND IT ANYWAY THEY LIKE!!!! 2)Who do you guys think you are to put anyone down for wanting a mixbreed? I personally prefer pure bred dogs, but if you like a mix breed, you should be able to buy one if you want without getting bashed for it. 3)The moderators !!! How can you let someone get bashed, they defend themselves, and you come back and tell the person defending themselves to give the "attacker" a break because of their age?...just because you agree with them?...It is called being "BIASED" and a moderator should not be biased, they should be impartial.
I will probably get banned for writing this thread, lol. I just think that people come here to discuss different things, buying, breeding, care of animals. There is enough judgement in this world to go around, the last thing people that are searching for info need is some teenager with nothing better to do, bashing them. I think this forum could be a lot better than it is, that's all.

He did not research it. He even said- theres only one approved breeder- there are NO approved breeders. Its not a real breed. The logo is trademarked, thats it. If people want to inform him that he is mistaken I don't see a problem.
And another thing, anyone that holds up the AKC as the end all be all of the dog world has another thing coming. The AKC is a good registry, they are the Microsoft of the dog business. I think they have a "my sh**t don't stink" attitude, and people that swear by them is growing smaller and smaller. I like the AKC, but I also like the CKC and a couple of the other registries. The AKC started out small at one time too, time will tell if some of these registries will last. Why don't we put the blame of the way these registries are sometimes used, on the puppy mills that have 300+ dogs and push out thousand's of dogs per year and take advantage of the smaller registries getting started. I think you will see the good registries crack down on these guys and end up being recognized just as much as the AKC. SOme will not pass the test, but the AKC has to change their attitude, or maybe it is the people swearing by the organization that makes it not as attractive as it used to be.
All of this is getting real old. And what the OP said, it is his money let him buy what he wants to buy. And the thing with the younger kids I somewhat agree. They are getting stuck up for because they are younger. Well if they feel like they can have an adult conversation with people and bash them, then they should be able to handle whatever comes their way. Sorry for sounding rude but I am just not in a very good mood tonight.

joce, I said he was "somewhat" knowledgeable. secondly, informing someone is fine, bashing them and calling them names for not adopting a pound dog is a whole different ballpark. The problem is in the delivery, there does not need to be any hostility at all. And there was plenty towards him in that post.
I think that constitutes not knowing anything about it! As far as the people that were "rude" to him, they didn't say anything that wasn't true. People need to hear it one way or another. He can ignore it if he wants, I'm sure he's a big boy. And he will do what he wants with his money. And anyone else can tell him what they think. Get over it.
I agree with moondoggy..leave the poor guy alone if that's what he wants. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. All of the cats are rescues and I rescued 2 of the dogs at the shelter but I walked into a *gasp* pet store and fell in love with a shih tzu puppy and bought her. I feel as though I rescued her too. I removed her from the cage she was in at the pet store....just my opinion.
I'm a big supporter of Mixed Breeds! I think that people should buy mixed breeds. I support shelters too, dont get me wrong, thats where lilly came from BUT when getting a dog from a shelter you dont always know what your getting. When getting a 'designer dog' at least you have some standards , and mixed breeds of any kind are MUCH healthier then pure breeds. The shelter we got our lilly at told us she would not shed , etc , etc. GUESS WHAT!!! She sheds more then any other dog I have -- and I have a kennel. Mixed breeds are great. I recomend the purchase of one to anybody!! And.... you can get a SHIHTZU / BICHON (WONDERFUL DOGS!) from the Cuddly Puppy breeders network, edit.com.

I have to admit I will probably never adopt a dog. I love my danes and will always stick to my breeder. But I see no problem in donating to the shelters. So yes I said it, a shelter dog is not right for me and my family. So, I am not going to preach for people to get a shelter dog. And I don't have a problem with people buying mixes either as long as they don't spend hundreds of dollars on them. But hey, its not my money. But I also don't agree on people just giving puppies away. I have a million views on pet ownership. But I am going to bed now and don't have time to argue with my computer.
The customer should 'approve' the breeder. Find a breed you feel you can trust. Ask for emails or phone numbers of past customers. If they are a breeders network ,etc check the BBB. Call around and dont email around. If possible visit the breeder. If its a long distance purchase just ask lots of questions, get info on health guarantees, etc.
PugglesRock.... Why in every post does it seem like you are promoting edit.com? Do you work for them? Well if you do then you would know they are a puppy mill/ puppy broker or whatever you wanna call them. Bottom line is they are in it to get rich and by the way there is no web site propmotion on the forum so when the mods catch it then all your advertisement for them will probably be deleted.

Isn't funny how the same things keep happening here, but the people change? Does that tell you anything mods.... I must respectfully say that the problems seems to be with you and your followers... You can't keep banning everyone!!
No , I dont work for CP but I did purchase my Puggle from them! My puggle is the nicest dog in the world and I would recomend purchasing a dog from them any day. WE ALL KNOW THAT YOU luvmypits do not work for them cause you called them a PUPPY MILL even tho they are far from it. I hate when people talk crap but dont know the facts. Call them what you want -- i would say that your just mad its run by a 15 year old who is most likely richer then you. He cares sooo dearly for his puppies and the parents of his puppies -- they live better lives them most peoples dogs i have seen. Please find out facts before you jibber jabber crap.
If you don't like what we think about mixed breeds and people that pop out 100 dogs a month then don't reply to what is said! It's that easy. Say what you want.Dont attack anyone for what they said.I don't see any great facts your spitting out. Calm down. If you want a mutt thats great. If you spend a lot of money on it, whatever! But I don't think anyone should be pushing them as the perfect dog! and everytime I see someone ask about one (especially with something completely misinformed in the post-like approved breeder, no shedding, no barking,no health problems) I will tell them what I know, and my feelings about it. Your obviously doing the same but then you turn back and start yelling at the people who don't like mixes!

LOL...I think it is funny that this turned into exactly what I thought was dumb...leave people alone, he was asking where he could find a breeder close to his area and he got a mouthful about everything else, have you ever heard "stay on topic"....LOL
Im not trying to start stuff but the thing I dont get is ... He asked where he could get a puppy, I replyed with a good person to get one from and they edit my response because its 'advertising'. Then the person I recomend is called a puppy mill, even tho they have no idea who he is. I'm 99% positive that they have never visited him -- because if they have, they would kno that neither he or "his breeders" are puppy mills. It just makes me so upset. I'm happy its blocked now because I dont want people to think the wrong thing about this kid. He really has wonderful, healthy, happy dogs from GOOD breeders.
