I agree, unless you know you HAVE to be careful and where to find the resources, it is more than a little scary for BOTH breeder and buyer.
Again, the Breed clubs are really great resources. When I had my one and ONLY littler of Pyr pups, I posted the pups on my site, with a link to the GPCA and all the questions potential owners SHOULD ask, of me or anyone else they were looking at a pup from.
A good breeder should also be able to answer questions ranging from temperment and health issues to feeding and grooming and should never make you feel that ANY question is too stupid or bothersome to answer. If you get the "bum's rush" when you're trying to get answers BEFORE you purchase (or for that matter place a pup), think about the support you'll receive AFTER you bring the pup home.
Mafia Princess, Brooke is doing us all a favor. She is warning us about bad breeders. You shouldn't tell her not to post that she shouldnt post about this breeder, you should prevent bad breeders not to advertise. And people waste thier money on a wrong dog. Money doesnt fall from trees it's hard to earn especially when some dogs are expensive. Everytime I do a topic you always are against everything I say and everyone. How about you just don't enter the forum and not stress yourself out. Everyone has thier own opinions in this country. We respect yours and you should respect other people here. Not everyone has to post a topic or post a message that would suit you and that you would like.

ok now back to what this is about. IF you buy a puppy you got to read and do your home work on the breed standard,IF in dirving distance go look at the parents .Never let the breeder know you are not up on the breed.Be ready you will be less likely to be taken .Also ask if parents are DNA tested. This will let them know if the are not on the up and up they could be in trouble if selling a reg.dog with papers .
Know your breed and and learn all you can on what to look for before you buy. Ask alot of questions and get it in righting .If some one has something to hide they most likely will not do so. If you are buying from internet.be sure before sending your money to them you get this writen ,signed .and you will have name and address to send deposit for the puppy .Pay that extra if you have to call information and make sure this person is really who they say they are. I have herd people getting taken this way.
Corgi, I am the one who edited the 6 or so threads you created on the same subject the other night. As in this thread, you found it necessary to create 2 seperate posts each for one sentence. You CAN edit your posts if you think of something to add, just as was explained to you the other night by at least 2 of us.
Yes, there are many individuls on the forum. Each with their own piont of view. Sometimes those are opposing views. That is not a problem.
Alright I understand that. That was yesterday. I am posting in in different boxes because there is no point. Everyone wrote about same thing in different boxes anyway. And yes there is no problem about opposing views.
Always ask for References. People to call that has bought a puppy from this breeder. If they will not do so.Or make excuse's in any way ,There is a big sign not to buy. Breeders always should be able to give you phone no.or current e-mail address to check them out. IF they have a good rep. they are proud to do so.
Pyrmom, thanks for straightening things out. Are board rules on what is not allowed to post, posted anywhere? It would be nice to have that posted somewhere for everyone to see, because that way people will not be able to start fights by saying "don't post this" but will say "board rules don't allow this and that and so on". And any reasonable person would understand that.
I don't have time to look at every thread, I look at only those that interest me or that applie to me. So Pyrmom I must have missed out where you and Icy wrote to not mention kennel names.
To the original poster, good luck, and thanks for the info. I believe your intentions were good, but we have to respect the rules that the administrator set in order for us to continue using this board (You already proved that). Stick to this website because there are always some very nice people on this board that offer very good advice when you needed, without being rude. It has been very helpful to me on few occassions when I needed advice with my new puppy, and I'm always thankful for that.
