I believe in ghosts & I know without a doubt that dogs can sense things better than we can. The house that I grew up in was built by my great grandparents. My great grandaddy died in that house in what later became my bedroom after I was born. There were always strange occurences in the house. When I was 17 we moved to a house out of the city limits. Not only was it next to a 100+ yr old cemetary, but also our land was reputed to be a Native American burial ground. It wasn't until a few mons after we moved in that things started happening. One weekend my parents had to go away overnight, & my brother was out of town. Now, I'm the baby of the family & I'm spoilt, so, I had never had to stay anywhere by myself for very long, especially overnight. I wanted to prove that I was grown up & mature, so I decided to stay by myself even though my grandparents & aunt had offered to let me spend the night at their houses. That night was terrifying and will always be in my memory. I stayed in the living room with my dogs (Aussie, australian shepherd, Rico, blue chihuahua, Sabrina, all-American breed)(Rico & Sabrina have since died & I didn't have Pierre, yet), the cordless phone, & eventually a knife (I could't kill a ghost, but I could sure try to scare it away). All night long, there were taps & scraping noises on the windows, footsteps in other parts of the house, doors creaking, bumping against the back door, stuff falling off shelves, etc. The dogs were constantly barking, growling, & staring at stuff they saw, but I didn't. I didn't sleep a bit that night. My parents were due home the next day, so, thank God I didn't have to do that again. It's been several yrs since that night, & there have been several other weird experiences that I've had, but nothing at night by myself. Luckily, I have understanding parents, a wonderful brother and cousins, & good friends, & I haven't had to spend the night anywhere by myself again.
