It was $250 and they just took some blood and sent it to this lab to test it.
The vet was saying Riley is the youngest patient he has diagnosed. But he just went to a seminar about allergies and the vet there diagnosed a 10 week old puppy with food allergies!! They are trying to figure why exactly this is happening to so many dogs.
Poor Guy!! My older cocker has allergies too but I dont think they are that bad.He is on wellness whitefish and sweet potato or the supermix Lamb!He does great on both. Are you getting your puppy from the same breeder as Riley?? Im not sure if allergie sare genetic or not.I hope he gets better :)
The vet was talking with me on the phone about that, he said he always thought it was genetic, but its so random with dogs he just doesn't know for sure. So many dogs are getting allergies, it can't all be genetic, I'm sure some of it is.
Jasmine comes from different lines. The breeder hasn't heard of any of her other pups having allergies, so who knows.
Looks like he's pretty allergic to dust and mold, too. Do you have carpets? Vacuum frequently, if you do. I'd make sure his crate bedding is washed in hot water weekly, also, and have him sleep there if he's sleeping in your bed, now.
awww...poor baby. it's horrible that he's allergic to so much. does he pull out his hair? i had a poodle/ maltese mix that had allergies and she used to pull out any hair she could reach on her body. we had to give her steroid pills that didn't help that much. i hope the shots work for you and riley

No, but has had severe ear infections and skin infections over the last year. His ears have been so clogged they couldn't see his ear drums! And his skin gets fire red and itchy (by his belly and under his neck)
It's about time you got that friggin test back!!!! So sorry to hear Kiba's partner in crime is allergic to so much stuff. Unless you free fed the puppy, and supervised feeding times, I wouldnt see any problems with the puppy having food with rice in it. Just as long as Riley boy wasnt able to get to it.
Would an air purifier thingy help to clean the air and get rid of all the dust mites??
Riley..... I was wondering if the vet mentioned what percentage of dogs are actually somewhat allergic to several things but it doesn't materialize into something. You know? Like, I know I have mild allergies to a lot of things, and I wonder what it would look like on paper if I got the tests? I dont' know if that makes any sense, but if you tested an average dog, would they be a 0 on EVERYTHING or are there a certain percentage of things that will show up when tested. Does that make sense? It just got me curious. GOOD LUCK!
The air purifer that Merico mentioned really helps. We bought one recently and put it in our bedroom and you can even smell the difference in the air. Our babies have their beds in there with us at nite and Mandy seems not to be so itchy since we have had it. Can Riley eat brown rice? Some of the Natural Balance has brown rice in it. Don't know if it would make a difference, but it might be worth the try. good luck with your baby. Those allergies are bad news.
