Lucy has a bad habbit of chasing, barking and attacking the broom, mop, vaccuum, and lawn mower. It is almost impossible to use them with Lucy around. I usually will crate her when I am doing chores, or when we are mowing the lawn, but is there anything else I can do? Will she outgrow this behavior? This is the first dog that I have owned that does this.
I had to laugh when I saw your post!! Our golden puppy loves to chase the vacumn and the broom when we're sweeping the deck!! He goes especially crazy over the broom!! He's strong enough to pin it down and we can't pick it up!! We put him outside on the deck when we vacumn and put him in the house when we sweep the deck--otherwise it would never get done. Our older golden did the same thing and eventually outgrew it as he matured., so maybe our puppy will do the same and so will yours. For your sanity, just do the crate thing!!
yeah, It is fuuny! I am glad that my dog is not the only dog that does this. I hope she will grow out of it like you said. Lucy loves to chase things, I guess it is her herding instincts. She even chases the water hose. She will wait for us by the faucet to see when we are going to turn it on, and when she sees us move the faucet to on she takes off fast to try and chase it. She has a bath everyday just by chasing the water hose!
