Yes, Cassandra, it does exist...as a colloquialism, NOT as a proper English word. The same way "ain't" exists...which isn't a proper English word either. Both of those words exist in society in a vernacular way, but you won't find either of them taught at any school. The words "learned" and "am not/are not/is not" will, however, be taught.
There are many words in the dictionary that are not considered proper English and are just not used in the art of the written word...learnt is just one of them.
Using colloquialisms when trying to make points about proper spelling and grammar tends to make one look foolish.
I am shore I'm not da only one dat fin`s it incredibly frustratin ta try `n` make sense of some posts on cheer due ta bad spelling `n` bad phrasing! A li`l bit of effort goes a long way `n` it wouldn't hurt fer some individuals ta try `n` make da effort ta spell correctly.
If`n yew download da google tool bar yew`ll fin` dat it also cumes equipped wif a "spell check" which should make life easier fer those dat spent their entar school days daydreamin rather than paying attention! ;)
Oh Gosh, forgive ME `n` also forgive those dat invented da DICTIONARY.
I am NOT trying ta alienate anyone, I am just being truthful `n` I am not about ta apologise fer dat. In quite a few cases, da sentences aur badly phrased ta da point dat they brrrly make any sense. I do apologise fer those dat may have dyslexia er some other disability but I am shore dat ain`t da majority of people, only a small minority.
In response ta someone who said dat perhaps some people cannot spell because they may not have been in a position ta receive adequate schooling - dat is a feeble excuse, evarybody goes ta school `n` if`n yew can use a cumputer then dat in pretty much speaks fer itself, lol.
Casandra, Boy do you have me pegged wrongly. I was being 100% sincere with my aplogy. No sarcasm what so ever. I was merely stating that my life in particular doesn't sit back and wait for me, I have to fight for time to come on here and talk with people and get my questions answered by seasoned dog owners. Spelling is often not at the tip-top of my list. You're new and I was just getting to know you and was hoping I wasn't the reaosn for you're disgust.
Thanks for shoving an apolgy in my face and making personal comments about me.
I didn't expect any personal jabs but if that's how you want to be, don't bother replying to anymore of my posts and I'll be sure to steer clear of your's as well.
common sence tell me to stay clear of this post..but...oh what the heck..
I must be queen of the run on sentence...i like the dots instead of punctuation..i cant spell worth a darn and try so hard to be understood ( and not misunderstood) that i write far too much..I know it..I admit it..and frankly...I could care less...I say what I have to say...if others choose to not read it..so be it..
Cassandra: "I don't think so somewhat, lol. If you haven't learnt how to spell by now then I believe it's a lost cause! I'M afraid I cannot suffer fools all that easily, LMHO."
Really? Myself I have a problem with arrogant buffoons who seem to think that their education level automatically makes them better than others, and gives them the right to belittle and ridicule others. Newsflash, you don't have that right, and your coming off as an insensitive jerk, who may just be a troll, considering this thread you started appears to just be flamebait.
i dont place any merit on anyones spelling. we dont know the reasons behind why some people spell the way they do. could be a number of reasons and pointing them out is openly finding fault with someone. sometimes there are posts that are a little hard to read or understand. if they are beyond my comprehension then i just move on. its not a life altering experience. i guess i am a redneck because i had no problem understanding any of that redneck lingo ! its red beans and corn bread for dinner tonight ! talk at ya'll later ! lol
IMO, Cassandra is either quite bored or has nothing else going on in her life if she can come to a pet forum and scrutinize posts. I think on top of you being annoying you are blatantly rude for comment about SweetGMichelle that way. I'm not sure where you get off.........but if votes would help I vote for you to be booted as well!
I admit that some posts just go on & on and are filled with typos, spelling & grammatical errors. I just skip the ones that are hard to read. With some folks, spelling & English aren't their good points. I happen to do well at both, but can't do math to save my life.
It's bad enough that many folks on here get reprimanded for their beliefs, opinions, & questions, now we have to make sure our spelling & grammar is perfect. Gosh, I feel like I'm at work!
In an earlier post I said that it is becoming not so fun to post and read posts here anymore because of bickering.
The post by Cassandra proves my point.
I agree that poor spelling and bad grammar is annoying to people who are educated. However, you are being downright rude and mean, and that is way worse than not being educated. It is uncalled for in a forum designed for discussion on animals. Last time I checked this board is about animals, not perfect punctuation.
Why don't you take a Xanax or something because you really need to chill out. What is your problem Cassandra? Do you get off on making people who are less fortunate than you feel bad?
If you are so concerned with grammar and spelling you should become an English teacher. God knows the world is in short supply of good teachers. I teach college level science courses, but perhaps I could get some tips from you in the English curriculum since you seem like such an authority on the matter. <insert sarcasm>
