My husband just received a 12 week assignment inTN and we live in NC. I could stay here but I cannot do that to my kid. My problem is the 4 dogs. I cannot and will not part with my dogs. I can easily find a place that will accept my 2 small dogs. The problem is my 2 german shepherds. I am not going to give them up! Not in a million years. I found a trailer that will accept my 2 small dogs but the two big dogs need to be outside. I don't even have a clue about what this place looks like. I am so scared. The property does not have a fence. My dogs are not outside dogs. I feel like crying all the time. My husband talked to his brother and his brother said to sell the 2 big dogs. Are you kidding me? I hope this will turn out for the best because I honestly do not know what to do. Maybe I can sneak my 2 dogs in at night? I hope this place is not a pure dump! No one would rent us a house, apartment, or condo with having 4 dogs.
I would take the place you have found that will take the 2 small dogs with the larger dogs outside.
Then I would put up some temporary fencing. It's not too hard to do, you can buy a couple 10 X 10s, and put them together, and have a small exercise area for them, and put a couple dog houses in it.
Keep a couple of large crates inside for them once you move in. Make sure they don't do ANY damage inside the residence, and make sure you leave it very clean when you leave, and I doubt you have any problems.
Yep what Red said sounds pretty good.Could you ahev someone board them for you? When we are in the middle of moving we will have our trainer and friend board our Rottie and cockers for $10 each night for each dog.Mayeb you could do something like that?
Red I just hope this place is not a dump. Let's hope it won't be rented soon because we aren't moving until June 1st. Cocker boarding my dogs for 3 months is not a very good option. The cheapest I found was $15 a day ($900/month). We will be gone for 3 months. Red can you elaborate more on the 10x10 fencing idea please. I don't know if they rent out fences in TN. I know they do here. My husband is pretty handy so if you can explain a little bit more maybe we can work this out. Thanks so much.
I don't think it will be hard or expensive to build a big dog house for my two pups. My dogs are rescues so it hurts me even more. I don't know if you all understand what I am trying to say. I am a nut, this I know. LOL I promised them they would be spoiled from here on out. I feel like I am letting them down. I don't see how my boy can live without AC.
i dont know how your breeder was or if the dogs are rescue. But my trainer is a breeder and she will watch the dogs temporarily as long as you provide food. She will watch them for nothing.I wish I could help.im moving to Tn and we would have acres.I will try to think or find other things.Maybe a rescue would keep them temporarily.Like a GSD rescue?
Ok I just saw your post.Im sure they can live without AC.They are a working breed. You arent letting them down in any way.My rescue I got my dogs from will take the dog back if they need to and they will hold it for you.

You can go to lowes or Homedepot and buy kennel sections that are pieced together. My husband has 3 for Duke and Duchess when we're not able to watch them outside. They can be assembled and disassembled fairly easy. Surely cheaper than boarding and lots better than rehoming.
I guess its hard for other people to give advice when we don't know the whole sitution but my cousin's husband travels all the time. He is now in the states when for awhile he traveled everywhere, even overseas. What she does is stays home and like now he flys in every other weekend. Could your husband do something like that, just come home on the weekends until his 3months are up. It would be a shame to have to get rid of your babies just for a 3 months deal. Hope it all works out for you.
I also agree with the last poster. I, of course am unaware of your home situation, but it would be an awful shame to have to give up dogs you love for 3 months. Is going with your husband the only option you have? I know you mentioned a child. Anyway, good luck!
I wish you a ton of luck. If they are well behaved and quite mab you can just sneek them in. its only 3 months no one would have to know. Just keep an eye out for people around you. Some people totaly rock but others will rat on you just because they can
weloveourdogs, as others before me, I dont know your situation, but I w/tend to agree w/the one about having your husband come home (if possible), as opposed to uprooting all the others involved. Having said that, you have the child issue. I know this may sound a little "Ugh", but if you have a PC w/cam & your husband can access one also, perhaps that w/help w/him being away. I have GSD's & you really CANT hide them, they only come in one size............LOL.....Good Luck w/all your babies.
it IS possible to find a place to live-- we just moved to Texas from Mississippi with 2 cats, 3 dogs and two kids. We managed to find a place that would allow us to have all our animals inside. Yes wehave 2 cats, 1 chinese crested and 2 GSDs inside now. Want to know what my pet deposit was? $30.00 yep thats it-- it was a thing i worked out with my landlord-- before i foudn this house there was one other house that would have allowed all of us.
weloveourdogs.....what a bite...i guess i would explore options..but..kennel pannels are expensive..that is IF the landlord will allow you to put it up..you need to find out first..we made kennel runs with combo pannels at the tractor supply...you need to frame out with wood...but it was some cheaper...each 16 foot panel was say 17.00...now...that would mean you would just have to buy the gates or else make them yourself...we opted to buy the gates...lowes was cheaper...i think 40 bucks...i know your in a delema...do you leave your hubby for 3 months or the dogs...i know that would not be an easy one for me personally...but...when i drove to TN to SC on a dog buying trip that we visited reaatives also...it seemed to be a drive you could do in a day...do you think it would bre possable to have hubby commute on weekends? I know not the best...but might work since its temporary...i hope it works out for the best...good luck
