The temps are suppose to reach 110 here tomorrow. The heat is horrible and no rain in sight. I had thought about putting ice in mine's drinking water but it would be different than them just chewing on ice. I was kinda afraid it might cramp their tummies. Would it be okay you think? They are never outside except to go potty.
Macy and now the puppies go to their water bowl, inside, and push it around. They want me to rinse it out, and put ice in it. The puppies play in it, but Macy will only drink water if it is really cold.
Hot and Humid here! My 2 pitts are out door dogs and I freeze a milk jug and float it in their water bowl sometimes. I think it makes me feel better than them They like it either way. They've been streched out in the garage watching me have a heat stroke in the garden. They're defiantlly not coming out to help pick, thats for sure!LOL!
Mia loves ice cubes. He is 10 lbs so about the size of your dogs. I think they would love them too and be fine with them. It is very hot here too~ Around this time of year I feed him ice by hand out of the freezer and also put some in his water bowl.

Well several years ago when I had Tinker (toy manchester) it was so hot one day and I give him some cold milk. He just kinda fainted right there. I thought, omg I have killed this dog. But, I think what happened besides the milk not being good for him, he was not use to anything being that cold. I thought it might have cramped his stomach too, so thats why I was kinda hesitate about putting ice in the water. They love ice cubes. We give them ice all the time. Well, I'm going to try it. It is so hot they are drinking water like its going out of style.
I let Penny lick on a couple of ice cubes and if she doesn't seem interested, I put it in her water bowl. I have to keep the AC on during the day when I'm at work... it's just too hot!! I don't even think she wants to go out. Ok fine, I'm the one that doesn't want to go out...
My dog and cats share a couple large bowls of water. My cats have always had ice cubes in their dish because they like it very cold. If the ice is melted, they will come to the faucet and whine for cold water until someone turns on the faucet.
We have always put ice cubes in the dogs water dishes, since I was a kid. Jonah is a slob with it, he will put his whole face in the dish slurp up some water then grab an ice cube in the process, mean while he will stand there, and let all the water drain out of his mouth onto the floor, it's quite hilarious. But he does love to eat the ice cubes.
I will sometimes add ice to my dog's water - but they tend to play bobbing for cubes when I do. There are some great water bowels that have a liquid center that can be frozen (over and over again) to keep the water cold.

I will give Mason an ice cube to play with. He basically thinks it's a toy and tosses it around. He loves it! At first I was afraid that he would swallow it, but that didn't happen. Now, whenever I open the freezer here he comes.
I will put an ice cube or two in his water bowl before we go on a walk so it will be nice and cold (and melted) by the time we get back. He causes too much of a mess if he actually sees the ice cube in his bowl because he is trying to get it out.
Prince LOVES his ice cubes. He lays down pulls the bowl to him and kinda leans in the bowls and licks the cubes. Then he bobbles for the cubes paws and all in the bowls. So I'm pretty sure your pups will enjoy it too.
