I was wondering what different ways people dispose of the poop. We tried the Doggy Dooley System ( on a bigger scale, of course) this summer and I must say I wasn't pleased at all. I added the digester and warm water weekly as instructed but I may as well been adding Kool-aide. Someone told me I should be adding lime and a dead chicken-feathers and all (yeah, let me run to my local Wal-Mart and grab one!) I really would like to hear of the other options that others use successfully. Thanks!
I also use the plastic grocery bags. Just dump it in, tie & throw in the trash. On walks, the park by my house has poop stations with plastic bags - usually grab a bunch so I can clean up after them along the way.
Thanks for the info... I think, though, that I would be more concerned if I was using my compost pile for vegetables... but ours is used only for flowers. I bury it so far down that we won't see it for another 3-4 years.
To the person who said that they mow over it... PLEASE be careful! My father did the same thing... til he got very sick.
The morning after he mowed a few year ago he woke up with his eyes black and blue and swollen and he said his lungs felt like he was breathing acid.
Turns out that when he mowed the dust flew back and he inhaled it and it caused him to have a very serious eye infection. He had a bacterial lung infection which took him several months to recover from.
If you're going to mow over it... wear a mask and eye protection.
